and you’ll either be down for the ride or find yourself hitting the skip button for something less intense. Spaceman’ (featuring German rapper Finch) has lively techno moments that are contrasted by big metalcore sections and EDM choruses which hail rave culture.

In comparison to these many albums and EPs, the sixth full-length Tekkno is all about the harmlessly absurd. A marriage of pop, metal, melodic punk and dance, everything they do is performed with maxed-out energy and (an admittedly knowing) sense of the ridiculous. huge breakdowns, brilliant pop choruses, modern and old-school electro, metalcore riffs, and a large dose of escapist fun.

Unfortunately, compared to what they’ve discovered in the rest of Tekkno, these are the weaker points. The hilarious matching outfits come to mind and it’s hard not to start getting pumped up to the beat (pun intended). And it says it all when Wikipedia don't even mention where they charted for any of their albums in UK and US. Some music acts which have a comedy element focus too much on comedy and not enough about the music. Instead, it’ll open up a new world of possibilities within this EDM meets Metal phase we are currently seeing a rise of throughout the scene, and I wouldn’t be half surprised if more bands/producers head down this path with future releases, especially if they want to try and bring across fans from both respected genre-fields.

Bravery’ might be too strong a word, but no one else is throwing in entire verses from German rapper FiNCH like on Spaceman, or building off a completely undiluted Europop song that could’ve been cut by O-Zone with Hurrikan. With tons of energy and fun on board, the band from Castrop-Rauxel delivers an unprecedentedly fulminant metalcore-firework that is second to none. This is their 6th album, and it appears Germany have been keeping them a secret since they formed in 2010. Upon translating the lyrics into English, however, ‘romantic’ is definitely not the right word (“When I see all the pictures, then I only think of you/How you sat on me, my god, that was disgusting”. On 17 November 2012, the band announced after a concert in Düsseldorf that they were parting ways with their drummer Michael Maletzki; he was replaced by David Friedrich. After an application phase, a video followed on 4 June 2020, announcing that Nico Sallach (former lead singer of the band To the Rats and Wolves) [17] would be the new lead singer of the band.
