About this deal

This is one of the most informative books that I have read this year, as well as one of the best written.

I missed the news a couple years ago that there’s going to be a Bollywood rendition of that Jon Favreau movie Chef. The information and science "stuff" that Bosker explains so accessibly, has applications on tasting and enjoying any food or beverage. Skystis, kurį išgeriame sulyg pirmuoju gurkšniu - ne tas pats, kurio šlaką iš butelio išpilame paskutinį.Also, I’ve started sniffing all the ingredients I use while cooking and attaching words and/or images to them (cloves: “spicy vanilla”; honey: “cloying but smugly virtuous”; freshly washed coriander: that scene in Princess Mononoke where–spoiler–the forest spirit dies and from its body flowers and new green grass grow). Owner Benedict Hurley attended a meeting of Southend Council’s licensing sub committee yesterday to defend his application. An 18-month immersion in the study of wine, teaching us not just about what to look for in the glass, but how to experience the world in a new way. It is a must-read for anyone who is interested in wine, whether you are a seasoned expert or a novice.

This hilarious, thoughtful and erudite book that may be the ultimate answer to the perennial question of whether or not wine connoisseurship is a scam. Reading Bianca Bosker is like sitting down with a brilliant, curious friend for an after-work drink, and suddenly finding it’s midnight and the table is littered with empty bottles. Bianca Bosker is a journalist who decided to learn the secrets of sommeliers, and she takes her readers along with her on this crazy, obsessed, interesting and insightful experience. We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues. If you have already read this one, let me know in the comments some of your favorite quotes, or if you’ve decided to add it to your must-read list!Reading Bianca Bosker is like sitting down with a brilliant, curious friend for an after-work drink, and suddenly finding it’s midnight and the table is littered with empty bottles. More jester than savant, Harris and some others in here — like a somm who licks rocks — paint a pretentious, silly, self-obsessed, and, at times, straight-up loony picture of the profession.

Treasury manipulates its wines with chemicals until they’re perfectly suited to the tastes of the mass market, tastes excavated through focus group. Bianca Bosker could have written a really excellent book about all of this, had she not insisted on inserting personal bullshit that makes her come off as a pretentious Basic Bitch who muscles her way into places she shouldn't be.Both Apple and Google state that they ensure that only users who have actually downloaded the app can submit a review. She had been excited when the sommelier who waited on us at Terroir asked me what kind of wine I was looking for. It's important to note that you don't have to know a lot about wine or be a wine fanatic to enjoy this book (I'm not--I enjoy wine, appreciate it, and know what I like and don't like and that's about it it), but being a foodie or food lover helps.
