About this deal

Some scenes were full of tension, some scenes will leave you with your mouth hanging open and some scenes will frustrate you like hell.

A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. To make things worse, there is a stark absence of descriptive imagery, the characterisation is gossamer-thin and I've seen more twists on a runway.

Grace and Millie have presented the perfect situation because their parents are not very involved in their lives. Not everyone is lucky enough to land a Gillian Flynn movie break, and ultimately, its your readers who will be paying your bills. Diane marvels that I've managed to get everything ready at the same time, and admits she always chooses a main course like curry, which can be prepared earlier and heated through at the last minute. I felt that this thriller was like so many others I have read, and I guess what was going to happen way before the information was reveal.

However, they go on with the wedding without both Millie and Grace’s parents, who ride in the ambulance with Millie, who has broken her leg. After a whirlwind courtship, Grace and Jack get married, though the affair doesn’t go entirely smoothly, with Millie tumbling down the stairs hours before the ceremony and breaking her leg.

She is later forced to move into a smaller room, is deprived of food, and has to spend a few nights in the horrible basement that is painted top to bottom in red. Yet Paris undercuts her own suspense by allowing Jack to, at great length, recount his coming-to-villainy back story. Grace walks headfirst into what is obviously a bad deal in such a glorious fashion that I’m reminded of that old lie about chickens staring up at the rain and drowning. Three of her novels have been optioned for major screen adaptations with films of Behind Closed Doors, The Breakdown and The Therapist in development. B A Paris is the internationally bestselling author of Behind Closed Doors, The Breakdown and Bring Me Back.I appreciate a logical handling to first-person present, but even then, the book is just another example of why the style should not be used in long-form fiction. And while this is not completely unrealistic and I could believe he would go to such trouble to create his "fantasy", the mindless villainy of him, plus his penchant for showmanship, verges on a caricature. But then again, it was so clever and effective the way the author had Grace happily heading off to the airport by herself, and it kept me incredibly tense and curious about what had happened and whether she truly would be free. My eyes fall on the box of expensive chocolates she has just taken out of her bag and I feel a flicker of excitement. Brooks presents a case for making room for Bigfoot in the world while peppering his narrative with timely social criticism about bad behavior on the human side of the conflict: The explosion of Rainier might have been better forecast had the president not slashed the budget of the U.

It was crazily vivid, in my opinion, and the last three paragraphs sent literal chills down my spine. But when I knelt down beside her and found her body cold and rigid, I thought about the terrible death she must have endured.

No, I really CAN'T say how I feel about him, because it would set me off on a rant, and I'd probably give the whole darn plot away! If Grace makes trouble for him, or kills herself, Jack will be able to emotionally torture Millie without any intervention from Grace. psychological suspense novels like Gone Girl are characterized by the destabilizing effect they have on their reader; where tension is built and maintained through misdirection and the manipulation of narrative twists, keeping the reader guessing, uncertain about what's actually going on, where the story is headed, if the narrator can be trusted. Since we’re talking about a thriller/mystery, of course the story was more plot driven than character-driven.
