About this deal

I don’t know if I would play this with kids as young as 8 as shown on the box, but certainly with older kids and upwards. On a turn, a player can roll the five dice up to three times, using the results of the dice to shoot neighbouring players, increase the range of his shots, heal his (or anyone else's) life points, or put him in range of the Indians, which are represented by nine tokens in the centre of the table. You’re going to be deceiving your opponents and making sure you end up the last gunslinger on their feet.

If I tried my hardest to nitpick, then I guess the abilities of certain characters seem more useful than others, but this really doesn't damage the game so it's not worth worrying about. As an important lesson on moderation in alcohol consumption, every beer lets you heal any player (including yourself) one health. Like a number of dice game, there’s a bit of push-your-luck element, but most of the push your luck is to affect your own life in the game rather than impact others that you’re trying to knock out. And we may still pull it out on a game night before we dive into games that require more decision making. You really don’t want to kill an outlaw as an outlaw, and the Sheriff killing the deputy is pretty much the worst possible decision. However, the arrow pile was very low, and I knew that if I re-rolled and got too many arrows, I could inadvertently kill myself instead of my opponent. Mod 1 - Dice are different from the each other and represent a loudmouth and a coward, you can choose one of these dice at the start of your turn and it'll replace one of those you have already.

As far as social deduction goes, Bang the Dice Game is probably the most accessible one we’ve looked at because there’s no real way for a proper consensus to emerge. Bang the Dice Game also makes use of Yahtzee style dice rolling – roll a set of dice, keep some, reroll others.

Dice are marked by symbols, and while colour is used it’s not the only way faces are differentiated.

Some literacy is needed to interpret character cards but it’s not much because the powers are quite simple.

Deputies win if the Sheriff survives and Outlaws win if the Sheriff dies, while the Renegades are victorious if they’re the only player left. There's even some pushing of your luck as you decide whether to chance arrows or dynamite by rerolling.

If you’re trying to decide whether or not to reroll that beer that will likely keep you alive, you might want to keep the beer. While the cards do exhibit some degree of colour clash across various categories of colour blindness, they show the name of your role prominently and you’ll never be in a position, at least during play, where you need to covertly observe another player’s identity.

Imagine the kind of slapstick gunfight you might see if the end of The Good, The Bad and the Ugly had been choreographed by Charlie Chaplin. It’s not possible to draw five aces because the cards themselves hold the recollection that you have already drawn four. As evidenced by one of my shortest posts ever, this game doesn’t take much time or effort to explain. If you roll a whiskey bottle during your turn and you have no duel wound tokens to discard or if you lose two or more life points in one turn, you must draw a rage card; the symbols on those cards are added to the results of the dice!
