The way his feelings worked were so beautiful, he isn't used to letting people in but somehow Joel worms his way into Ky's heart quite quickly.

I definitely would have liked to see the female lead and the troll friend/coworker get a lot more involvement and character development. A surrogate parent to his younger siblings, his brother Danny’s spiraling out of control happens alongside his many, many work duties and his inconvenient crush on tattoo-artist Kyzer. Kyzer being demisexual was something that pulled me in from the blurb since it was something I was not familiar with and I kind of fell for Joel in Forbidden Ink. Yet the warlock who was assigned to watch our main character inevitably and consistently kicked his ass, and why this other warlock was so powerful was never explained. We’ve only just started scratching the surface of his story and I for one am looking forward to reading more about him.Meet Gage, a magical tattoo artist trying to remain hidden and alive in a world where elves, faeries, trolls, werewolves, and vampires mingle freely with humans, and warlocks and witches rule the roost with merciless cruelty. You would think this would be a slowburn due to Kyzer sexuality status but once he got to know Joel and realized that Joel was crushing hard for the him. If this is what they are thinking all of the time, no wonder they always respond with "nothing" when you ask them what is on their mind. Kyzer is really cool name – except I heard Kaiser which aside from The Usual Suspects, doesn’t have a great connotation for me. So when Kyzer and Joel feel the pull of attraction toward each other, they will brush their feelings aside and assume the wrong thing.

Warlocks and witches are universally feared and he never wanted to be cruel and heartless like so many of his kind. With all the other dynamics going on I feel like that character and their drama could have been excluded and I wouldn't have missed it. For gay romance, she has completed The Exit Strategy and Shadow Elite series, and is now working on a spin-off of her MM paranormal series, Lords of Discord. Some of the plot elements are interesting but there are too many things introduced at once and as a result character development really suffers. Joel knows he shouldn't get involved with a client but the more he gets to know Ky the more he likes what he sees.

I knew Kyzer and Joel were going to get their happy ending, but there was just enough angst to make me happy.

A lot happens at once very quickly in this book and you can tell that Drake is struggling to juggle all the rapidly introduced plot lines.

I was less excited about the way they both tend to lash out at each other in vulnerable moments-- it definitely felt realistic, but the “bite your head off then apologise” formula repeated one too many times for comfort. Fruit-forward with an integrated oak presence, the wine delights the palate with a crush of berry and a vanilla-backed juiciness that encompasses its overall personality. If you aren't sure if this is your type of book or not, and you have the option to get a digital sample, I recommend doing that first to see if you like the voice and writing style of the author.
