About this deal

Beauty Pie works on a membership basis (all good so far) but also on a sort of “comparative RRP” basis, where they find a similar luxury product on the market and use that as the benchmark from which they discount. I didn’t see any amazing effects though sadly and sometimes it made my skin tingle a bit after application – and I don’t have sensitive skin. I say trends, they're really just things that many people have been wearing for ages yet I still find hilariously novel: cropped wide-leg trousers.

When mixed with water the cleanser starts to turn into a milky consistency which makes it really easy to remove without leaving any residue behind. Later in the year I will be subscribing to try some more things about, but I’m keen to clean down a few part used items first. You become a member of a club that gives you access to great formulations at a low cost (even taking the fee into consideration) and they get you hooked in and spending on a regular basis. It's lightweight, cooling and suited for all skin types (just like the products in the Japanfusion range).

The texture of the moisturiser is lovely and similar to the Japanfusion Elixir and it sinks into the skin really well. You'll usually see it at the top of ingredient lists, meaning that it makes up the largest part of the product. It has a lovely fresh scent, comes in a pump dispenser that’s so quick and easy to use and it’s lasted me a fair while now, so it’s definitely my favourite of them all. I discovered by accident that a colleague is still a member - she shares with her sister and says it's worth it with four teenagers between them - so that might be worth checking out?It goes on like a cream and then when massaged into the skin becomes more like a gel and allows you to give your face a really good massage. Almost two years ago I wrote about the Beauty Pie service and broke down how it works and showcased what I had picked from the service. Unscrewing the lid showed me a plastic lid in between which I was happy to see alongside a little scoop to get the product out without using your fingers. I had high hopes for the Superdrops Flash Facelift, but after using an entire bottle, I didn’t see any noticeable change at all.

It glides on really well and it’s a great one to pop in your bag if you want to freshen up you eyes a bit. Caroline suggested that you can splash this off, but honestly, my aim isn’t that good and I prefer using a warm microfibre cloth to rinse it all away. It is created by attaching ten water-loving glycerin molecules with the oil-loving fatty acid, stearic acid.

I have used Japanese skincare for over thirty years (well before “J beauty” became a thing) and I can say that the Japanfusion Deep Treatment Serum compares very favourably to a similar serum from Sensai. You massage it into dry skin, add warm water to turn the consistency milky and then rinse off with a face cloth. There are two more products I will be reviewing by the end of the month/early Feb as I have used it enough times to form opinions about them and I don’t see them changing. I tend to get my fingers into it and scoop out a little onto the tips of two or three fingers which I then spread evenly around my face before I start massaging in.
