About this deal
Inside the Synology DiskStation DS223j is a Realtek RTD1619B, which has four physical cores and is capable of bursting up to 1. When testing NAS platforms, for each storage pool we benchmark, we provision four shared folders for 25GB files and four 25GB iSCSI luns.
After the update I lost all access and had to reconfigure the NFS permissions on all shared folders.I know I’ve already touched on this, but it is worth highlighting again, just how good of a value the Synology DS223J is when you consider what you are getting. The TerraMaster F2-212 has the same Realtek RTD1619B processor, 1GB of RAM, and the same configuration of ports on the rear. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. Extend the standard 2-year hardware warranty of your DS223j with 2 more years of Synology-certified support and premium services to help you recover faster in the event of disaster. So far i cant find a situation where you would need more ram you cant run VMs on this thing and DSM is extremely memory efficient.
Finally, talking of features that other devices in the Synology DiskStation family support that are absent here, the DS223J lacks any M. For standard deviation latency, SMB was the better-performing protocol again with the DS223j, posting a range of 7. There are only seven WD hard drives on that list, eight Seagate hard drives on that list, and (weirdly) 36 Toshiba drives. Exceeding the recommended numbers above will not block application operations, but may result in longer response time.Once the DS223j has been turned on, connecting to the NAS with a browser will allow you to install the OS and configure the NAS with a primary user account, manage how the drive(s) will be used, and create a Synology account for more convenient remote access when away from the LAN. The only issue i had with this system is antivirus essentials taking 8 hours to update its virus definitions all the while using 300-400mb of ram…… Like really synology why the heck does it take that long to get virus definitions makes no sense whatsoever?
