About this deal

Lauren feels unworthy of love however, until she decides to be more forward with her neighbour, James, when he needs a bit of comfort. Will definitely check out more of Mique in the futute though as there's a lot of good writing at the start of the book. I had to laugh at a few incidences in the story where he is told to do one thing or that he couldn't do that and it literally goes through one ear and straight out of the other. Ingenious detective work, logic, intuition, aided by computer experts and Rachel's dodgy, wealthy father, lead to the possible location of the crimes.

Mentioned he saw a cute chick on Instagram last week and noticed she followed some of his friends, so he followed her. The antagonist in Broken Dolls is a clever take on the serial killer and a refreshing change to some of the by-the-numbers stuff being churned out.The narrative explores just how far someone is willing to go or sacrifice for someone they care about, especially when pushed hard enough. As day breaks over the fairground, Detective Katie Scott forces herself to take in another disturbing scene in front of her. I think there is also a little bit of a spark between the pair and as much as I would have loved a bit of a romance to be going on, I have to say I'm glad the author did not go down that route so that the story very much focuses on the extremely horrific crime.

Using a particularly cringe worthy implement he takes their minds, leaving them a drooling vegetable. I, however, am coming to learn that my preference for extreme horror lies with books that are so outrageously unrealistic that I can completely remove fiction from reality. This is where having a male author writing from a female pov comes into play that men can never understand that a woman would be too scared to do this. Jefferson is partnered with a female detective named Templeton who, we're repeatedly told has the looks of a model and is absolutely stunning. Caz, a very young prostitute who is caught up in the midst of a series of deaths in the community of working girls in Streatham and ‘The Punter’ a shadowy character whose darker thoughts and acts are peppered throughout the book. It’s an extreme horror, you have to know you’re willingly signing up for a brain beatdown one way or another. Just a serial killer going house to house to kill people for no reason, other than him being psychotic. A crazed serial killer, an eccentric FBI investigator,a tough female cop - all the ingredients here blend to make a brilliant police procedural.

I really liked her and thought she was a great character to carry the story, rather than someone further up the hierarchy. this one actually has a premise that is more up my alley because home invasions are one of my greatest fears. With some extreme horror books that convey these more realistic situations, I find I'm having a much harder time lately just enjoying the book because I'm constantly thinking about how these things could actually be happening to someone in real life. The first in James Carol’s thrilling Jefferson Winter series, Broken Dolls offers rapid-fire suspense and a chilling look into the mind of a criminal – and into the mind of the one man who might be able to catch him. By the end of Broken Dolls, Winter had developed into a great character who almost every reader will want to ride with again. There was very little plot aside from the torture and debasement of the entire cast of characters, excluding only our main villain.
