Bareksten Gin has a traditional base line, but you will find wild blueberries, lingonberries, rhubarb, elderflower, mint and an additional 20 different ingredients. Produced in small batches in the heart of Bergen, Norway, Bareksten Botanical Gin is a true testament to the art of distillation. The gin is named after the entrepreneur himself, Stig Bareksten, who was also one of the founders of “Det Norske Brenneri” - known for Norway's first whiskey. Fennel, mint and aniseed give a menthol quality, whilst the elderflower, blueberry and lingonberry help to give a fruited sense of softer perfume. The long sunny days of summer combined with plenty of rain and warm weather provide the perfect conditions for many herbs and berries to grow. On opening the parcel, I was seriously impressed by the effort that had gone in to the packaging and design of my three 50ml samples.
