Other reviewers go into more detail on why this particular DMR radio is so good so I won't repeat their comments. My conclusion is a very positive one, this radio is hands down the best handheld DMR radio I have ever laid my hands on! DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) is a new standard that has been introduced by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) for communications using digital signals. In any event, I am extremely grateful to Angela and her colleagues at Retevis for their extraordinary efforts in resolving this perplexing problem.

The manual is easy to follow, well written and firmware updates come out frequently to fix any bugs that are reported by its large user community. For protection of eHam review readers reviews should not contain links/URLs off-site with the exception of the More info URL. I could not figure out why this was happening, as I had entered the same PL (CTCSS) codes that worked fine in my other H/T radio that only does FM. Reviews of equipment capable of CB/Freeband operation or not FCC Certified/Type Accepted may be removed.Note: If you plug the programming cable into the computer and the device manager displays "USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM4)", it indicates that your programming cable is a new version. While there aren't much in the way of DMR repeaters in my area, I'm sure this radio will do nicely when in range of one. I haven't tested this myself, but the difference in transmit power is not as significant in operation as you might think. Second-hand Ailunce HD1 10W DMR dual band handheld transceiver, FM Radio The FM radio function allows you to listen to radio entertainment in your spare time.

The site will stand above all other ham radio sites by employing the latest technology and professional design/programming standards, developed by a team of community programmers who contribute their skills to the effort. Product reviews are not a Forum for two-way exchanges, inquiries, general discussions, complaints, help requests, product repairs or modifications. If a manufacturer would like to announce or raise awareness for their product eHam suggests writing a brief News release and submit it to eHam's News. I use the radio in single VFO mode and have the clock on the other, I like having my screen timeout set to continuous and having the clock always visible is good to have and I have found that it does not affect the battery life much at all! One of the main selling points of this radio is that you can program the radio directly from the front panel! The menus are easy and not complicated at all to learn and unlike most DMR radios, this one is "field programmable". The one thing which would make the two versions of radio interesting is that the structure of the menus and firmware is (almost) identical in both radios, the codeplug and communication protocol is identical so it is possibly using the same codebase for building the firmware.

If you mess with licenced business users they can get RAS and/or encryption activated or just give up on radio altogether for PTToC/VoIP systems and you will have nothing to listen in on. If you mess with hams they are liable to try DF and report you or will just blank you if you do get the licence.

The belt clip is separate from the battery (nice touch) so you don't have to switch it when you switch batteries but at 3200 mAH I do not see when you ever have to. As of the time of writing this review, all of the other *dual band* DMR radios available have this same type of receiver, so would probably suffer from the same problem. I did an audio test video with a comparison between the HD1 and MD-380, if you want to hear what it sounds like in action. Another thing I find interesting: The Ailunce HD1 probably won’t work good when other Hams are transmitting close-by as in an emergency drill.
