Cassia Joy Cowley DCNZM OBE (née Summers, born 7 August 1936), best known as Joy Cowley, is a New Zealand author of children's fiction, novels, and short stories. If you get the big book you can act it out and there are parts of the book that repeat themselves so your studeents can become familiar with it and so those parts as they come along. A cow, pig and duck discover after running away that, even with her annoying baths, being imprisoned on Mrs. Wishy-Washy as a quality learning material, and used it as an example of the importance of early literacy in young children.In 2002, Cowley was awarded the Roberta Long Medal, presented by the University of Alabama at Birmingham for culturally diverse children's literature.

Joy Cowley is well known for predictable books for emergent readers (guided reading levels D–J), and the Joy Cowley Early Birds series and Joy Cowley Collection both have lovely Mrs. After living in Featherston for more than 30 years (where they have named a playground after her) Joy has moved to Dunedin to be closer to family. Wishy-Washy are a common occurrence, giving children an early taste for acting, storytelling, and public speaking. As an adult I can understand and comprehend the meaning the meaning behind this book but if I were a child I would not find this book enjoyable. Personally, I think I liked "That Is Not A Good Idea" by Jan Thomas better for a similar concept, but maybe this is where that concept came from. Characters in this beloved collection will delight students during shared, guided, and independent reading. She has been published so widely and to such acclaim that she received a Commemoration Medal in 1990, the OBE in 1992 for her services to children’s literature, the Margaret Mahy Award Lecture in 1993 and an honorary doctorate from Massey University in 1993.We are going to celebrate the little things, intentionally pour into the hearts of those God entrusted to us, and live out God’s purpose for our lives.
