Luckily Meg’s spell to save them works fairly well but the dinosaurs are so small that she needs a magnifying glass to see them! We havwe been receiving our storybook subscription for around 18 months and I can't see us stopping anytime soon. Three scarce first edition hardback copies of the much-loved witch and her cat, Meg and Mog, created by Helen Nicoll and Jan Pienkowski. Meg has to try another spell to save from being eaten - again it doesn't go quite to plan but at least they're safe!Authors / Illustrators I find it really interesting to hear what authors and illustrators enjoy reading or have enjoyed reading with children. First published in the 1970s, the books are about Meg, a witch whose spells always seem to go wrong, her striped cat Mog, and their friend Owl. Children will love exploring the colours, sounds and shapes in the magical Meg and Mog stories, which are perfect for sharing or reading alone. Meg’s hair and Mog’s whiskers stand on end when three huge eggs fly out of the cauldron with lovely Plink, Plonk, Plunk sounds. Meg makes a spell to make eggs for dinner but it all goes wrong when the eggs hatch and out come DINOSAURS!

Meg, Mog and Owl manage to look after the first two dinosaurs but then a fearsome Tyrannosaurus hatches and wants to eat them all! After creating his first book at the age of eight, Jan went on to excel in his chosen field of design, working in such diverse areas as television, theatre and greetings cards. We recently inherited some of the books and now my daughter is enjoying them, she loves Meg’s spells as they never work quite as they should! Meg’s Eggs is a fun story that will appeal to toddlers and preschoolers but is also a great book for preschoolers and developing readers. My daughter laughs when Meg’s spells go wrong, first the eggs are too big then the dinosaurs shrink to mouse size.
