About this deal

the beach trips, to the sunscreen debacles, to the family barbeques, it truly felt like i had found myself in the middle of august instead of the beginning of april. This book a time travel experience, meeting and learning the ideas of the founders of a lot of modern-day match winning methods; simply fantastic!

when starting this book i thought waverly was terribly bland and mediocre as the main character, however, as the story unfolds, it's clear to the reader why she acts so plainly. This summer, the battle rages over who she’ll spend her vacation with, and when Waverly’s options are shot down, it’s bye-bye Fairbanks, Alaska and hello Holden, Florida to stay with her aunt. in some ways, they reminded me of jeremiah fisher and steven conklin from the summer i turned pretty. Then again, you could save it until the darkest days of January when you miss the sunshine so much you can't hardly stand it anymore. With the younger crowd I like to spend a lot of time asking questions about what’s happening or get them to talk about what they would do in that situation. But after her divorced parents can't agree on who gets to have her for the summer, Waverly gets shipped off to Holden, Florida, to spend a couple months with her aunt, Rachel. The illustrations are done in watercolour with the use of digital tools, and there is strong use of vivid yellow. The good thing about Waverly’s inability to swim and determination to hide it is that it provides a catalyst for her to get closer to Blake, since he was the only one who realized the truth. This past summer I had the opportunity to do a segment on local radio about wordless books and prior to the segment the producer recorded his young son telling the story of Float. The publisher of this book provided free copies of the book to have their book reviewed by a professional reviewer.

I believe the AD/Designer on the project, Chloe Foglia, described how she thought it should feel “precious. It's a problem that requires a lot of heroism, action, and suspense and it will keep you on the edge of your seat.My son is four years old and I often see him in his room after bedtime with a flashlight flipping through his books. The topics explored in each chapter are based on hundreds of discussions the author has led with adult science learners over many years – people who came from all walks of life and had no scientific training, but had developed a burning curiosity to understand the world around them. Blake also has a lot of issues with his stepmother in terms of both of them misunderstanding the other, and he finds out his girlfriend is cheating on him at the start of the book, so he has a lot of issues, but at least manages to not be super angsty over it for the most part. Q: And lastly, because you never really read a picture book alone and I adore brainstorming book groupings, do you have any books that you consider to pair well with Float, wordless or not?

Its trim-size is uniquely long and narrow and the cover art alone sends out muted flares of alert to its brilliant content. This is pretty much vital information, since any children looking at the book with you will almost certainly request their own paper boat so they can play their own games.i was hesitant to read because… y’know… wattpad published… and those books don’t tend to work out for me. I had anticipated her, much like Waverly did, to be this snotty spoiled princess who wanted all the men to herself, but she definitely wasn't that. I originally read it years ago on Wattpad when it was still being posted chapter by chapter and I loved reading this new, polished version just as much. Almost all of the wordless books I have highlighted have used a very simple concept and then allowed the illustrations to explode with the detailing.

Because she is my friend, I won’t forget how she’s shown me how blues can be bluer and silence can be the loudest and love knows no time or physicality—it is just there waiting to embrace all the parts you think it doesn’t cherish. Blake’s super protective of her (though not in a possessive way), and the two have a lot of cute banter and I absolutely loved reading about them. While I love the expression of his style, I actually think the even more important part of the brilliance of the illustration is the strength of his color palette and execution. My one real problem is that she doesn’t know how to swim at the start of the book, and apparently finds that embarrassing enough to admit that she endangers herself over it not once but twice in the book, and I did find her constant talking about her height (she’s almost 6 feet tall if I remember correctly) and her clumsiness to wear on me a little. the development with waverly and blake was quite realistic for teenagers, not quite “insta-love” but not quite a “slow burn.
