This 2016 Vintage Port Wine from Dow's is the first wine where the mineral characters really shout to be heard.Dow's displays a dark ruby/purple colour, attractive liquorice, chocolate, and roasted coffee aromas, medium to full body, sweet tannin, and a moderately tannic finish. While Port (named after its city of Oporto on the Atlantic Coast at the end of the Douro Valley), made Portugal famous, Portugal is also an excellent source of dry red and white Portuguese wines of various styles. For over two centuries the name of DOW has been associated with the finest Port from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley. Made with a blend of wines that have spent four years in oak, it’s then bottled unfiltered, and cellared for a further three years to let it improve.

During the ageing process the wines are tasted regularly and only deemed ready for blending when they taste right, which is why there is no specific age given to the port. We followed the serving recommendations from each brand, from keeping the liquid at room temperature, chilling it, or decanting it before pouring.Pungent (in a good way) with a little must, apricot and candied fruit, it is wonderfully thick and decadent to sip.

Bottles in this Auction are never classed as brand new and Boxes/Bottles/Packaging etc may have marks or creases due to their age. This 2010 vintage is wonderfully fruity with bold berry notes and a creamy finish with a little spice heat, and even a hint of chocolate.
