About this deal

The bear managed to open 40 containers of the drug and consumed all of it, leaving only traces behind.

Severin Films brings together four more Italian gothic horror films from decades past in the second volume of their Danza Macabre collection. The colors are equally well-defined, with strong saturation that never pushes past the point of oversaturation, and the contrast range is excellent. It is nice that Universal is still giving this one a physical release, as studios have recently been moving away from that. Set in the mid-eighties, Cocaine Bear opens with a man throwing duffle bags out of a cargo plane before then parachuting out himself.

The dialogue is always clear (for good or for ill), and Mark Mothersbaugh’s score is well-supported in the mix. The primary reaction I’ve had from people when I told them what I thought of Cocaine Bear is one of credulity.person, rightly disregards even a hint of internal growth in favor of working up the energy to push the film's content on the outside. You might not think that a film about a bear eating a ton of cocaine could be boring, but here we are. Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild dark comedy finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists, and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500-pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow—and blood. They’ve been robbing tourists in the area for some time now, much to the dismay of a park ranger named Liz (Margo Martindale). He sends his son Eddie (Alden Ehrenreich) and his friend Daveed (O'Shea Jackson) into the woods to retrieve it but they’re attacked by a trio of stupid teenagers comprised of Vest (J.

The HDR10 grade doesn’t have a huge amount of highlights to be bothered with – the odd bright light of the plane cockpit in the opening few mins or the glistening reflections from the night-time waterfall at the film’s conclusion still have a real energy to them – instead seemingly focussed on eking out every last little bit of nuance in the colours, and especially in those darker scenes. Blu-ray delivers the expectedly rock-solid video and audio presentations while offering an average allotment of bonus content. This year’s meme given cinematic life proves to be both better and worse than any sort of expectations one may have coming to a film named ‘Cocaine Bear’. The thing is though, even the biggest, dumbest horror comedy should be well-written but when it isn’t, you can tell and this serves as an object lesson in this.We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our site, provide personalised content and advertising, analyse our traffic, and ensure you see more of what you love. There might be some quick flashes of a leg falling off or a spray of blood, but it's well into the second half of the film where the carnage and jokes reign supreme. That's good news for original horror in general, especially since the studio also scored big with M3GAN earlier this year.

As these many and varied subplots intertwine, the bear wreaks more chaos and kills off various characters, leading, sadly, to a pretty foreseeable conclusion. New modern studio film release supplementals checklist – perfunctory and half assed marketing materials secured…check; pointless deletions and excisions that were absolutely right to be removed in the first place and add nothing whatsoever…check; completely unwarranted forcing down our necks that the film is supposed to be, you know, over the top, by everyone who may be slightly concerned that somewhere there is a member of the audience not aware that the entire film is a gag…check, check and check again. And while everyone is clearly in on the joke and bringing their very best wry sensibilities to bear (pun intended), it’s the least experienced cast members who deliver the most of both – Prince and a deliciously sweary Convery, bringing to mind the legendary Betty White’s potty mouthed Lake Placid resident, make for a hilarious double act as they discover the drug themselves, try and fail to take it and then are convinced that they’re now addicts in need of serious rehab; while Aaron Holliday, not even given a character name sadly, is gorgeously sweet and ferociously dim as the hostage of Ehrenreich and his partner in crime O’Shea Jackson Jnr as he tries to lead them through the park to some of the fallen stash while delightfully waxing lyrical about absolutely nothing. For items that are dispatched using our standard service, we ask that you wait 14 days from the date of dispatch before reporting any items as undelivered. All Roads Lead to Cokey is a perfunctory making-of featurette, while Unbearable Bloodbath focuses narrowly on shooting the bear attacks, with an emphasis on the gore effects. Now totally high on cocaine, the huge bear goes berserk and takes off on a hyperactive murder spree. It probably won’t be a movie you’ll go back to more than once but it’s a perfectly fine time killer on a day when you don’t have anything better to do.
