An adrenaline-fuelled, gripping account that puts you right in the cockpit of one of the RAF's most modern combat aircraft. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear on the boards and bumping to the spine ends with a little damage to the cloth at the bottom of the spine and top rear spine corner. Very easy reading an in depth about his flying time in the Jaguar and the Typhoon, I especially liked his fiancées query about the old desert camouflage on the jag.

A Chinese national and fluent English-speaker, claiming to be a university professor, with information of vital importance to the British governor, was caught on the coastline of the New Territories by a Scots Guard and taken to a safe house in Kowloon. This was likely due to the start of the rainy season that had drenched most of the province the past couple of weeks.

Lennox is an engaging and likeable character, and his relations with colleagues, counterparts from other agencies and also the 'civilian' bystanders whom he deals with are all plausible. Spine head cloth edge corners rubbed through, 1/4" vertical tear to middle spine head cloth edge, moderate spine lean, top board corners bumped, front bottom right board corner rubbed through at tip, foxing, browning and soiling to page edges, heavy foxing to end papers and some interior pages, front and back hinge papers cracked and torn but threads holding firm. Although there is collateral damage in the novel and the human drama between Miles, Wang, Lennox and Isabella which forms the core of the novel is well written and convincing, I found the novel a touch antiseptic.

Joe Lennox is a NOC (non-official cover) agent, working for a logistics company, and describes how he was recruited by MI6 at Oxford and persuaded his girlfriend, Isabella, to join him in Hong Kong, she unaware of the double life he is leading. A strange Chinese (Wang) swims to Hong Kong and manages to bluff his way to interogation rather than repatriation.He is removed to a safe house for questioning, which is undertaken by Lennox, who establishes a rapport him. Told as a narrative of a novelist it follows the life of Joe Lennox into Hong Kong and back to the UK and then into China itself as a SIS operative always working undercover. With time running out and the stakes higher than ever, these three survivors must figure out how to live with the overwhelming odds against them.
