About this deal

Huawei’s Histen tech is also used, adding virtual bass, adaptive gain control, a linear phase equalizer and more. Pre-Owned Certified: Electronics products are inspected, cleaned and (if applicable) repaired to excellent functional standards. Similar functionality is available through the Huawei HiLink and SmartHome applications, although they lack some of the advanced features of the web panel. Sound quality isn’t close to matching the Sonos One, and Spotify support is included at the time of review. Defective product sim tray keeps ejecting the sim card, seller stalls for time asking over and over again for pictures and videos and asking if you are or not entering the sim at an angle asking stupid useless questions.

With Cat6 LTE, the Cube offers up download and upload speeds of up to 300Mbps and 50Mbps respectively. The two cheaper Bluetooth speakers still present a much more engaging sound, with deeper bass, more involving mids and better scale.

We found it super easy to connect both our phone and then our laptop and we're pleased to report that the signal remained constant and strong over the few days we tested the AI Cube. During sign up to the service I took the Cat 6 LTE B900 router as I was told by Three that I would get faster speeds than the cheaper alternative Cat 4 that they were also offering. The Huawei B535 WebBox on the other hand is arguably the best option if all you want from the device is 4G home broadband. We checked our speed when using the Huawei AI Cube device and found it reached an average download speed of 89Mb. Huawei B900 AI Cube Router can be controlled via voice assistant Alexa with around 50,000 voice commands. For the last 15 months I have been on Three's unlimited 4G home broadband service using their supplied Huawei AI Cube, aka B900-232. I listened to the Huawei AI Cube alongside the Bluetooth Ultimate Ears Boom 3 and Jam Heavy Metal, alongside the Echo Show 5 Alexa speaker.

Limited dynamics make it flat, the mids are basic, and the bass doesn’t have the punch or depth to make music sound particularly lively. I guess tourists would be your issue, but can't imagine London is a sprawling city like it once was currently, so its obviously another example of three's shonky network. And, as a result of mediocre 4G performance in my home, music cut-outs and general unresponsiveness proved common in my flat.

Only fly in the ointment is that LTE H-Monitor doesn't seem to work with it which is a pain as it doesn't always seem to aggregate the fastest bands. The AI Cube has an ethernet port and power supply on the bottom, and volume keys and a button to mute the microphone on the top – of course, when not muted the device will mostly be controlled by voice, more on which below.

The Huawei AI Cube doesn’t have Bluetooth and doesn’t show up in the Spotify app; there’s no support for Spotify Connect. On the plus side, with far-field voice recognition thanks to four microphones, it seemed to respond quickly to being woken with the word 'Alexa' and it was able to make out commands even in a room with a fair bit of hustle and bustle. Indeed, it has far more visually in common with a smart speaker than a typical mobile broadband device. All the higher-frequency information comes from its front, although the side-firing radiators do help to disperse the sound and give it a perception of width. Shaped like an elongated Google Home with a flat top, the Huawei AI Cube is an effort to get Huawei in on the flourishing smart speaker business. However that's very dependant on the provider in terms of what frequency bands a provider uses, aggregations that are available and what levels of MIMO and QAM are deployed on their network combined with what the individual device supports.
