To add to Kitfit's excellent advice - use an oscillating multitool with a sander attachment to get into the corners that the random orbit cannot.

Thanks to its small size this hand sanding block is ideal for small surfaces and difficult-to-reach areas. The Mirka DEOS Delta orbital sander is perfect for the precise and efficient sanding of corners, profiles and vertical hard-to-reach at any angle. I also use a Dust Deputy to front end my dust collectors (in fact I have 3 and one front ends – sits on top of my Festool CT33). Designed for use with Fossa evoMESH®, or Mirka's Abranet, Autonet and Abranet Eco range of net abrasives.Simply attach the hose to a dust extraction machine to achieve a virtually dust-free environment when using. I don’t think this is a CT issue but more of a router design (or should I say lack of design) issue. It doesn’t pack away as neatly as the Festool, I think that is the only negative I can say about it.

If you are sanding walls, the last thing you want to end up with is swirls and lines in the plaster. We are a UK based online community of professional decorators, combined across several online platforms. Offering convenience and flexibility with an innovative sanding head and 5mm random orbital movement. It allows you to hand sand wood, paints and coatings, plaster and drywall, whilst you collect the sanding debris with a dust extraction vacuum.

To answer your question Stuart, the speed control on the CT’s are something i really only concern myself with when I am finish sanding, or doing the final sanding before a finish. It doesn’t really get warm after hard use either, as opposed to the Mirka Deros which is a similar bit of kit but can overheat.

It's products like the Handy that make results stand out from the competition and for any professional decorator will help the reputation you hold. As RO sanders generally exert positive pressure through their exhaust dust port, it doesn’t take a great deal of negative pressure from the dust collector to clear everything away. But recently some builders did some work for us and they had electric hand sanders connected to a (Henry) hoover that seemed to make the work a breeze for them, and pretty dust-free.

It is worth looking at a pad saver as the underside of the sander can soon get damaged if you’re as heavy handed as I am. The 15 gallon container is cleaned every few months and over 1 year so far no dust issues with the bag.
