About this deal

A strange man sitting opposite them decides to tell them a story about his friend, Billy Byron, the most decorated soldier of the first world war, the person who had a chance to end the war before it even began. He, his friend and cavalry commander, and their legion leave Britannia, fight with Stilicho in Italy against a Germanic invasion and then are posted on the Rhine to hold the frontier at any cost until reinforcements can arrive during the next spring. Henry Tandey is a hero and I wish he will be remembered for all his heroism and all the good things he did and not as "the man who didn't shoot Hitler. ea este vorba despre un soldat care a luptat pe front în Primul Război Mondial, făcând multe fapte vitejești pe parcursul acestuia și primind multe decorații. Possibly for heightened dramatic effect, the author blended the forced suicide of Martinus, Vicarius of Britannia, with those of Arria and Paetus, all three of them historical figures.

When Hitler’s face filled the screen at the local cinema, Billy suddenly recognised him – he was the German whose life he’d saved. second, the whole concept of the Roman frontier has been revisited by historians over the past 20 years or so.He likes stories full of /action/ and /adventure/, stories just like his grandfather told him, and he /doesn’t/ think that his newfound friend can deliver one of those. Please feel free to leave suggestions for new books to review, as well as comments on the individual reviews themselves. Finally, and contrary to the "myth", the mixture of Vandals, Sueves and Alans which crossed were not a gigantic and countless horde.

It is about a young boy and his mother who get trapped in their house and get rescued from an air raid in 1940. While I suspected both of the twists, the story is compelling and based on a historical incident when Hitler was spared during WW I. Maximus, the legion’s commander, is urged to proclaim himself emperor, but he stands by his concept of duty and holds the frontier for longer than seems possible. the picture of decay and of moral decadence among the civilian elites (including the Christians) is easy to believe because it "feels" real, regardless of whether it was in fact true or not. Now, Maximus will accept the purple robe of emperor, if his scrappy legion can deliver this last crucial victory against insurmountable odds. This informative and thought-provoking collection of true stories shines a light on the contributions made by Britain’s Black community during the First World War. Wallace Breem is one of those authors who, if he is remembered at all, is probably known only for his first novel, Eagle in the Snow, which received high praise and achieved excellent sales on its. The pre-loved books are carefully cleaned and maintained offering a wide variety of general and specialist titles from children's to adults. Bravery, loyalty, experience, and success lead to Maximus' appointment as "General of the West" by the Roman emperor, the ambition of a lifetime.

To get his mind off of the dark, the stranger begins to tell them a story of he and his friend, a boy who he grew up with in an orphanage. This fast-paced and gripping sequel to Rosie Raja: Churchill's Spy is packed with fascinating historical facts about the Second World War, Ancient Egypt, and even the struggle for Indian Independence. Anyway, whatever quibbles about this book's "age" and historical accuracy, this is a MUST read for all fans of the Roman Empire and, more generally, all fans of historical fiction. This was a relatively quick read and one that I didn't want to put down once I got past the first chapter. That's not to say it's all doom and gloom as there is plenty of humour and the overall quality of the writing is something very special and very rare.

Lo grueso de la trama se desarrolla en diciembre, con nieve y frio para aburrir (el título del libro ya lo dice) y realmente nos mete el libro en faena. During this time a stranger keeps Barney and his mum calm by tell them the story of Billy during World War I. This is one of those books that can be read on so many levels that any reader (whether middle school child, teen or adult) would get something from reading it. My grandpa was a scarecrow, with his hair always tousled—what there was of it—his hands and face grimy from delivering his coal, and that was after he had washed. And it could've also been that one of the other soldiers he saved was one who smuggled Jewish ppl out of Germany during the war and or was in a resistant group and fought against Hitler. The book is about a soldier in WW1 who had the opportunity to kill Hitler but didn't and was so sorry when he realised what he had done by letting him live. After his house had been destroyed in a bombing, Barney and his mother try and make their way cross-country to reunite with Barney’s family, but their plans fall short when another German air raid begins.
