About this deal

Laika quickly established itself as a heavyweight animation studio rivaling the likes of Pixar, Disney, and Dreamworks with this film. There are 4 sets of 3D glasses (old school tinted film glasses, JAWS style) that come inside the Blu-Ray case, so the whole family can watch.

Coraline, as a film, all these years later holds up incredibly well and was the audience’s first example of what LAIKA Studios was capable of, which was a visually captivating stop-motion animation that makes for excellent escapism to those of all ages. Inside the new house, colors are more neutral, but once in an alternate reality, colors are just slightly more intense and frightening.A 36-minute making-of documentary and two extras focused on the work of the Laika animation studio boast copious behind-the-scenes footage that represents a celebration of the arduous process of stop-motion animation.

highly textured world coming through as intended, surveying fibrous hair and strings, smooth skin surfaces, and animal fur. work of Neil Gaiman, Selick has terrific fun building the landscape of the movie from the ground up. All and all, “Coraline” on 4K UHD Blu-ray arrives with a new Dolby Atmos mix that certainly does the sound mix and movie equal justice, enough to earn it a perfect 5 rating for audio quality. Pressed on a BD-50 disc, the disc is housed in a standard case with an identical slipcover in a two-disc Blu-ray + DVD release. The role fell to Dakota Fanning, just fourteen at the time of recording her lines, but already an accomplished actress with spectacular turns in Man on Fire (2004) and War of the Worlds (2005) to name but two. Henry Selick made a big name for himself when he released Nightmare Before Christmaswith Tim Burton, cementing his name into the dark stop-motion animated realm of children's stories. One should certainly keep in mind Coraline is an only child and that she has left behind her two close friends back in her old hometown of Pontiac, Michigan to move to this new strange place in Oregon where she knows no one. I can’t imagine this movie would be nearly as memorable or as well regarded when this was supposed to be a live-action movie.

Mushrooming to a towering height, the fully agitated, sharp-boned wicked mom suggests an undead starlet. The film holds up incredibly well and the audio and video is of excellent quality making this a fantastic release across the board. Finding the key to said door, Coraline finds a magical way in, and soon finds herself in an alternate universe, complete with clones of her parents, the house, and everything she ever knew, just better. However, the story goes full blown horror (for younger viewers) in the latter half, bringing in some seriously creepy imagery and traumatic events that get softened just a bit by the children’s nature of the film. The bait and switch genre bump might be a problem if taken as just that, but the gorgeous animation and clever digital cinematography really do sell the thing. Now it’s up to Coraline to figure a way out of the monster’s lair, and get back to her OWN reality, as boring as it may seem to her. Screenshots Comparison, Certified Fresh, Dakota Fanning, Dawn French, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, HDR10, Henry Selick, Ian McShane, Jennifer Saunders, John Hodgman, Keith David, Laika, Laika Studios, Neil Gaiman, Robert Bailey Jr. Dakota Fanning, Ian McShane, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, and Teri Hatcher headline this terrific voice cast.
