The powdered coating means it doesn’t slip, even with sweaty hands, and the ridged edging on the lid makes the cap easy to twist off. It’s also worth choosing a durable material like stainless steel or ceramic with good insulation and a leak-proof lid if you’ll be on the go. The rather large branding down the side is a turn off for me, though at least it’s subtle in colour. Hard plastics are still used frequently for keep cups, though make sure you choose a BPA-free option.

Sho advises that the Straw Lid is not 100 per cent leak proof, though I haven’t found that to be an issue. This could be because overtightening may strip the screw top, but we think it has more to do with how the collar and cap interact. These travel mugs are definitely geared more towards the aesthetics than practicality so I keep this one on my desk at work. For this, the mugs have been rated in a few categories - aesthetics, is it leak proof, dishwasher and microwave safe, how long the coffee stays warm, how easy it is to clean, if it fits in a standard car cup holder, and any additional features.

I found the sweeter flavours like watermelon and mango a little artificial but the citruses and the cucumber were delicious. The insulation isn’t quite as good as some other offerings - but if you drink you coffee as quickly as you anti-bac after a trip to the supermarket, that shouldn’t be a problem.Why we love it: Great for both tea and coffee drinks, this reusable mug is made from a grippy, non-slip BPA-free plastic making it perfect for hectic commutes. The body curves inwards around three quarters of the way up so you can wrap the rest of the hand around the body as you press the lid. Exposure to the industrial chemical BPA is believed to cause health problems, as I have explained in more detail in the introduction, but thankfully manufacturers are extremely cautious to avoid it these days. The hole is large enough for a free flow of liquid without messy spillage - perfect for a quick sip while walking or driving. Its antimicrobial collar does have a small few gouges on it, almost like the plastic got caught on something and scraped off.
