About this deal

For racing flats we ensure that we have completed intervals, a tempo or steady state run as well as a warm-up and cool down in each pair prior to review. Some of my more burly trail running shoes have tough, weather- and rock-proof materials on the upper that pinch or cause a blister on the top of my foot when they crease. Sutton Runner was recommended to me as I have a foot injury following surgery that is aggravated every time I try to . v=1680621176"}},"requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[]},{"id":43876954833124,"title":"7. Previous versions did have a rock plate, but there is none here, and I think that was a good choice by Brooks.

Trusted traction Feel confident venturing off-road, thanks to the premium wet-dry traction of our TrailTack rubber outsole. v=1680621176"}},"requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[]},{"id":43876954964196,"title":"9. Mike Postaski currently focuses on long mountainous ultras - anywhere from 50K up to his favorite - 100M. The tongue is of medium thickness and is gusseted, adding to the comfort, ease of entry and premium feel. While the Brooks Divide 3 makes an excellent trail/road option for the newer runner looking to explore off-road surfaces to see if they like it, it also may work as a lower to the ground, simple performance shoe for experienced runners who want a slightly wider fit in a lighter package. I haven't run in a pair of the Atreyu trail, but I did try on Sam's pair which was too small for me. The outsole has been plenty durable, but even with small amount of road use I have begun chewed through some of the rearfoot lugs at 35 miles (5-6 miles of road use). Padding around the heel collar is just right for a door to trail trainer and the height is ideal for my preferences.

Designed with a breathable textile upper, feet are kept cool and dry whilst a DNA Loft midsole offers customised cushioning adapting to your feet with every glide giving smoother transitions and softer landings. Check out our Best Trail Running Shoes article to learn about our current favorite trail running shoes! I think the tradeoff for more ground feel, especially in conjunction with the roomier upper, really works well here. Cascadia and Catamount both have rock plates, and the Caldera has a huge foam stack, so slotting the Divide to provide a bit more trail feel makes sense to me.I found that I was able to really push through the glutes and focus on fully pushing through my stride. Venture off road with ease in these Brooks Divide men’s running shoes, designed to make the transition from road to trail seamless so you can focus on racking up the miles. Our views are based on our extensive history in the footwear industry and years testing and developing footwear. The slightly wider fit does provide extra room and comfort, but does not make this the most secure shoe for tight corners and twisting.

The Caldera 6, while it has an accommodating forefoot, is perhaps just a smidge more narrow than the Divide 3. The mid-foot, whilst slightly wider, does have some contoured fit from a thick tongue and secure laces as you scramble and roll over loose terrain. While the Divide 3 lacks this element, perhaps that’s part of its appeal, to those who are attracted to the road-shoe appearance and feel. Some of my more trail-specific shoes sport that “in lieu of a gaiter,” sock-like collar around the ankle that keeps debris out.Mike P: Jeff describes the ride well and exactly as I would - predictable, stable, and responsive enough - and I would add - as a daily trainer.

But it’s all relative of course, and in a “daily trainer” I find it beneficial to let your legs do a bit more of the work. If you are a beginner or looking for a durable, affordable trail running shoe, then this is the model for you.

I can’t say how much intentional design thought went into this, but I’m finding that it really works well. It feels at home with easier efforts when you want a closer to the ground ride or if you want to hit some uptempo efforts. The midsole has been reconfigured and instead of incorporating the cushioning present in its previous version, the Brooks Divide 2, it has a comfortable DNA LOFT cushioning that guarantees smoother transitions along with an unbeatable level of flexibility and protection. The TrailTack rubber outsole and high surface-area lugs provide outstanding uphill and downhill traction – even on wet surfaces. While I set previous models of the Divide aside after testing, the Divide 3 has earned a spot in my rotation of favored shoes.
