Description

The size of the book also means that it is easy for students to transport and keep with them out in clinical practice, meaning they can refer to it during their practice time and use it as a handy reference guide.

It is recommended and required worldwide on a variety of courses and programmes, from undergraduate medicine, through to professional medical qualifications. This is a practical guide to the use of statistics in medical literature and their application in clinical practice. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products.Although it is not as in-depth as some of the other key texts out there such as McLeod or the Bates guide, it is nevertheless, a vital text to support students’ knowledge and understanding of the assessment process. This new third edition continues with the same structure as the previous editions and also includes a new section on statistical process controls. I like the fact it provides a clear step-by-step structure to the assessment and examination of different body systems, with a few pages exploring key presentations and extra information to support clinical reasoning.

stats type of exams "Fantastic book for someone who just needs to learn about the application and principles.

It gives confidence to the reader in taking up the challenge of understanding statistics and [being] able to apply knowledge in analysing medical literature. The whole way in which the authors have written this book is commendable; the chapters are succinct, easy to follow and a pleasure to read. Five-star reviews: Well balanced and sufficient for medical trainees and doctors "Extremely easy to read and understand, just the right amount of info a doctor or a medical student needs to interpret a paper. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

I found it easy to interpret and pitched at the right level even if you find medical statistics daunting. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The worked examples that demonstrate the statistical method in action have been updated to include current articles from the medical literature and now feature a much wider range of medical journals.

Any personal information collected will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable UK laws. We would recommend this book as an introduction into medical statistics before plunging into the deep 'statistical' waters! Using a consistent format, the authors describe the most common statistical methods in turn and then rate them on how difficult they are to understand and how common they are.

It is widely recommend on a variety of courses and programmes, from undergraduate medicine, through to professional medical qualifications. Most statistic books give you sh*t load of information and once you're done reading you feel like Alice in wonder land.
