Creative professionals, music lovers and anyone who wants the flexibility to stream both wired and wireless sound into high-quality studio monitors can count on JBL 104-BT to provide an accurate, reliable sonic reference and a truly enjoyable listening experience. This apparently offers a truer response and a wider sweet spot, although I’m not sure why I say ‘apparently’, as my experience with coaxials extends to both Genelec (expensive) and Pioneer (quite expensive) models, both of which certainly delivered some fantastic goods on both points with their coaxial setups.

They’re suitable whether you’re a vlogger, producer, podcaster, recording musician, or just an engineer who’s looking for portable referencing with Bluetooth functionality. Rear inputs are sensibly labelled Master and Extension, so you can position and connect the monitors whichever way round that suits, without causing too much confusion. If you know that the frequency response will be externally compensated, you can trade off a flat response in exchange for some other desirable attribute. The volume just doesn’t go up that loud if the overall mix is something circa 1980s orchestral film score (ie, E.The Series One 104s boast a coaxial design which means the HF driver is slap-bang in the middle of the LF one, with both then able to deliver their wares from the same axis and at the same time to the listener.

A pair of 1/4" balanced, dual RCA and single 1/8" inputs offer compatibility with a multitude of different signal sources. When you first open up the box you find two oval-shaped black monitors that have been designed with a flat rubber base to sit securely on a desk or shelf. At the same time, the upper register is similarly impressive with a high-frequency range of up to 20kHz. Available in a black or white finish, these stout and solidly built units each house a 12cm low-frequency driver and 20mm soft-dome tweeter, fired up by up to 60W of combined amplification and tuned by a rear-firing reflex port on each speaker.Coaxial speakers (tweeter in the middle of the woofer) are often really good at this, and these are no exception. For over seven years, Carl Tatz, studio designer and former owner of Recording Arts in Nashville, Tennessee, has installed his proprietary PhantomFocus monitoring systems in studios around the world.

Keep in mind, that they have a slight hiss when volume is turned on, a usuall thing for some studio monitors.Taking the concept behind the Control 1 speaker, they’re introducing the “1 Series” and the 104 as it’s current flagship: the concept of a compact, active speaker system for use in gaming, edit bays and other prosumer needs with a tiny footprint and maximum power and translatability. You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish. And, JBL 104-BT Reference Monitors' dual 1/4-inch balanced, dual RCA and single 1/8-inch inputs accommodate a wide range of signal sources. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. This means that once the product is delivered, you'll have 180 days to decide that you definitely want to keep it.

Back in the day, speakers like this would require more colouration down below than an Etch A Sketch pad or at least a separate subwoofer, but JBL’s designers have done an excellent job delivering punch and tightness that only falls down slightly when I throw some of my ridiculously over-bassed (is that even an expression? Our only issue in terms of outright presentation is the slight coarseness to the treble and upper midrange. With no onboard compensation EQ, the only word of caution here is that if you need to position them very close to the wall or you’ll get additional low frequency build up, which could be misleading.
