Description

Anbernic’s latest handheld is the same old hardware in a shiny new shell. The original LDK first pushed this design style, but Anbernic have improved and polished it. The dinky little Anbernic RG280V is cute as a button, but do we need it? In this folder, place a .png file with the same filename (minus the extension) as the game you wish for it to apply to. The RG280V boasts a crystal-clear 2.8-inch IPS screen, protected by a glass layer. At a 4:3 ratio, the RG280V lends itself well to many older titles, capable of playing them at a natural-looking resolution with no stretching! The RG351V was an interesting departure from the horizontal “bar” style of handheld ANBERNIC were known for

I can't seem to get PS1 to work. I have the correct BIOS in the proper folder, and I have all of the games (both bin and cue files) ready in the second SD card already. I'll try and see if I can fix it soon... Although at 3.5-inches the RG351V’s screen is the same you’ll find on other Anbernic handhelds, it feels especially large and generous here, with a resolution of 640 x 480 that makes retro games look beautiful. Photo: Andrew Liszewski/Gizmodo Your Anbernic device is a handheld computer and, as such, should be powered down in a safe manner. Otherwise, there is a risk of data corruption. Navigate between system types While on the subject of sound quality, you might notice that when you load a game the speaker emits a singular “pop” before the game launches. It doesn’t happen during gameplay, only when a game is first launched. The RG350M and RG280M also have the same bug. It’s mildly irritating at worst. SHOULD YOU BUY AN RG280V?While it uses a weaker CPU than the RG350, it is still capable of emulating a wide range of retro handheld, 8-bit and 16 -bit consoles. It cannot really handle 32-bit platforms and beyond however (PS1, etc.) A common issue that people experienced with the second generation of ANBERNIC handhelds is the barebones nature of the interface. While not complex, the overall layout intimidated less-experienced users, and was found to be somewhat clunky to use for even experienced users. This mode drains the battery at a very slow rate. However, we don’t recommend leaving your device in sleep mode for days at a time because it will eventually run out of battery and the unsafe shutdown may result in data corruption. Battery level In other words, the RG350P is a cheaper version of the RG350M. It is good for those who want some, but not all of the upgrades introduced in the redesign. RG315P vs RG351M vs RG351V After a while, we’re sure you’ll see too why this is the best RG350 custom firmware available at the time of writing.

I wish they’d just gone for a 640×480 display like they did for the RG350M, though. That higher resolution in such a small LCD would have looked amazing. It is telling that this is my biggest gripe with the system, and it’s really not that big a deal. RG280V EMULATORS The Linux operating system and OpenDingux user interface is ugly, occasionally confusing, and often frustrating, but not impossible to use. You will get a DOS prompt asking for your console model. Answer 1 if you have an RG280V and 6 if you have an RG300X, then press enter. Image writing software. We prefer either Win32 Disk Imager or Rufus. For this guide, we’ll use Rufus. For ease of understanding, we have categorized the handhelds into generations based on their processor. All handhelds in a generation will expect similar performance within games. First-Generation ANBERNIC RetroGame HandheldsInstead of retyping information that’s already available elsewhere, let me help you find them instead! Here are some links that can help you with an RG280V and RG300X related concern or question. Note: Both the RG280V and RG300X have the same chipset as the RG350 so any guides for the latter will work on your device as well! Airball ( Airball.opk): Remake of the Atari ST game Airball. Controls can be a little fiddly with the D-Pad. A partition management tool. We prefer MiniTool Partition Wizard, but you can use anything that works for you. MAME4ALL ( MAME4ALL_2014-01-04.opk): Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. Has not worked with all the ROMs I tested with, but works well when it does. To press “OK”, tap left then right on the D-Pad (required to start some games). The ADAM Image is an attempt to bring the convenient design of the EmulationStation-based image on the RG351 family, to an older series of devices. This includes a more graphical interface, and even cover art through the SimpleMenu GUI.

The systems that this device emulates have been grouped into sections (Arcade, Console, etc.). Press B until you reach the top level, then UP/DOWN and A to choose the section. Navigate through a game list some GBA games (about ~10%) will start up very, very slowly. They usually fix themselves, but not always. When you quit your chosen game, press X before the device powers down. Autostart has now been disabled. Hotkeys Action The batch file will then carry out some operations, before finishing and prompting you to close it/eject the card. Unfortunately, we at DroiX do not have the RG280M, so we can’t be absolutely certain if it requires unique firmware or not. Our best guess would be for you to try the RG280V or RG350M firmware). Device NameOoooo I'm getting nostalgic just reading this Article. I remember over 10 years ago when I first got into Obscure… The RG280V can be seen as an upgrade to the LDK vertical, sharing a similar layout albeit with a slightly more polished looking design. The addition of 2 extra shoulder buttons and a CPU bump from JZ4760B to JZ4770 makes this a bona fide successor to the LDK, and is a good upgrade for those looking for a compact but capable emulation handheld. AVAILABILITY AND PRICE The RG351V‘s screen is 640x480p and has a 4:3 aspect ratio. This allows it to better handle a larger variety of retro consoles. I love this little thing, it can emulate up to ps1 & below, like game boy, gba, snes, nes, fba, sega 32x/megadrive/cd, cp1, cp2, cp3, once you find the right way to grip it you can play for hours. For me the letdown is the screen size. I just got an rg300 with the exact same screen, I don’t care about staggered pixels, they don’t look that bad on a small display, but 2.8 is really too small. I have a 351p and it’s much better despite the aspect ratio. I’d love an rg401v Reply
