Handle with care: Keikis are delicate, so carefully handle your newly cut Keiki. Try not to touch the roots more than necessary. When positioning your humidity tray, make sure that the stem cuttings will not end up “baking” in the sun. You should place them in an area where they will get bright indirect light. If you still overdo it, and two or more shoots appear from one point of growth, leave only one of them (the one that seems to be the strongest and most developed). Otherwise, very soon the whole “structure” will dry out and fall away. For quantity, use a scant amount of paste and treat just one bud to avoid overwhelming the plant. If the keiki grows, it will demand a lot of resources from the mother plant until it is ready to be separated.

On the other hand, I have since applied Keiki paste to many other orchids, and it works great. Keiki pate does work amazingly on Orchids. Applying Keiki Paste On Monstera Noid (former Monstera Epipremnoides) A plant forming new shoots, “babies” or preparing to bloom, needs to create an optimal microclimate and enhanced nutrition. Therefore, orchids treated with Keiki paste are immediately provided with warmth, bright diffused light, the necessary air humidity, timely watering, and regular feeding.

Monopodial orchids, such as the Phalaenopsis and Vanda varieties, have one tall, vertical stem, and aerial roots often grow from this stem. They also have nodes at the base of each stem that occasionally develop into new offshoot plants called Keiki. Gather your materials. You will need a pair of sterilized scissors or a sterilized blade. You will also need sphagnum moss, a humidity tray, a clear plastic bag, a spray bottle with a misting feature, and ground cinnamon. Orchids heavily affected by disease or pests, Keiki will do more harm than good How to apply Keiki paste: step by step instructions Using an orchid cloning paste, you can encourage your orchid to grow a keiki along its stem. The keiki paste contains growth hormones. This stimulates the orchid into producing a keiki. In theory, it can be used with any orchid that has a stem with nodes. I go into more detail about this method in the sections below. I’ll also provide some step-by-step instructions on how you can do this at home. Growing Orchids From Seeds

Keiki paste works within a few weeks. However, sometimes a flower stalk will grow where you applied the Keiki paste instead of a Keiki, so it’s not always a sure bet.

What is it?

Once the keiki has grown big enough, you can separate it. Find a pot/container. It shouldn’t be too big, but it should still provide enough space for the keiki’s first year of growth.
