Description

The clutch, brake, and accelerator pedal set is also essentially aesthetically identical to the G29/G920 pedals; the only way you could really tell the sets apart when looking at them is the logo printed beneath the brake pedal. The only difference is inside; the G923 replaces the rubber stopper under the G29/G920 with a new progressive spring that gets firmer as you depress it. Despite the same appearance, Logitech says they have upgraded the pedal technology to make the potentiometer pedals a little smoother. Each pedal uses the same technology as before, however, Logitech has spent some time making the two-step brake pedal a little more fluid. Replace the front part of the hub and screw it in with the rear screws you unscrewed at the beginning. It's still a healthy level-up that makes the Logitech G923 perfect for PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. But it's just as happy with the Xbox One, PS4 or PC. Make sure you buy the right version, though. There are separate versions for Sony and Microsoft consoles, and both types have the same "G923" name this time around.

Fanatec wheels are perfect if you're looking for a supremely accurate and immersive racing experience. Fanatec's options tend to be on the pricier side. But you'll usually get a lot of extra bells and whistles as a result. What is the best budget F1 racing wheel? Many owners end up wanting to upgrade the pedals after a while too. The pedal caps are metal, but this is really just a basic plastic construction, without the stiffness of a great board or more advanced features like a high-end progressive brake. It will convert the physics and engine audio into vibrations that vary in strength. The louder your engine and stronger the car physics, the stronger the vibration in your wheel will be.The G923 is compatible with the current Logitech standalone shifter, but it doesn’t come with one. Logitech G923 – Performance Like others on this list, Hori offers two different wheels depending on the platform you're playing on. While the Hori Apex is for PS4, the Hori Overdrive is for Xbox One.

Predictably enough, then, the effect is halfway between the Logitech G29 and T300 RS. It’s smooth-ish, but not entirely, and you feel the effect of the geared motor as it pulls against you when you take a corner at high speed.Given the price, the results are great, though. Important: logitech steering wheels, compared to others, are more complex to disassemble. Modify your steering wheel if you're sure of where to put your hands. What if you currently own a G29 or G920. Should you upgrade to the new Logitech G923? In a nutshell, we wouldn’t recommend it. The upgraded G923 doesn’t offer much of a different experience when compared to the G29. If you are working on a G29, you will notice that there is a ps3-ps4 switcher at the top of the hub (see photo). Be very careful when opening the hub and separating it from the steering wheel, as the mechanism of this switcher is delicate. To avoid breaking it, just avoid bumping it. The goal is to add extra immersion to your sim racing experience and allow you to feel a stronger connection to the car you are driving. Does it work? Well, yes and no.

Our Verdict

Thrustmaster has a wider range of racing wheel options and its products are perfect if you're looking for an entry-level experience. That might mean you're getting a no-frills experience, but the brand makes some of the best and most accessible racing wheels on the market. There are good bits, sure, particularly the lower price. However, the Hori Apex (and the Hori Overdrive) is easily the most toy-like wheel in this group. It has plastic gear shifters, fairly cheap plastic pedals and no parts to upgrade. It also has very limited rotation compared with all the other wheels here, turning just 270 degrees rather than 900 or 1080.

As a result, the Hori is also much lighter than any other wheel here. You’ll still need something to clamp it to, but this is the one wheel here that won’t seem hard done by if it’s not treated to a proper frame or wheel stand. Games like F1 23 often provide some of the most realistic racing sim experiences around. And as a result, you'll want a racing wheel that can really capture the feeling of Formula 1. If you're on a tighter budget, fear not. The best racing wheels can be found across a wide variety of budget scopes, and we've endeavored to include both affordable and more premium setups. Still, it's worth thinking about the kinds of games you're going to play with a racing wheel. The best racing games that benefit most from a wheel setup are those with more realistic or sim-like elements. The G923 will also work with the new generation of Xbox, the Xbox Series X. We haven’t had confirmation that the PS5 will support this racing wheel yet, but we would be amazed if it doesn’t.There are a few downsides to these generally great wheel sets, and it’s all about the parts outside of the wheelbase. The steering wheel is solid and very grippy, but uses a rubber grip rather than a leather one. Many people will be fine with the material, but after using the G29 we did miss the feel a little. The two shorter buttons, on the other hand, have a "left and right", so take one of them, insert it into one of the two remaining holes (the ones furthest from the centre of the steering wheel) and turn them until they match the mechanism. If it doesn't fit, you need to put it in the other hole. I’m almost certain every sim racer will support this over time, but that support network isn’t there just yet.

Enabling Trueforce definitely adds another layer to the sensations felt through the wheel, though it does come at the cost of making the wheel even noisier than usual. Trueforce, for instance, enables the G923 to hook itself into the in-game audio and deliver a constant vibration to the wheel rim to simulate the throbbing engine reverberating into the cabin and through the controls. The higher the revs, the stronger the vibration. If you mute the game volume on your gaming TV or soundbar and speaker system you can still hear the G923 itself sound like it’s going through its own rev range – it’s kind of like that slightly distant, tinny sound you get when you go to play a game and you think your speakers are broken until you realise you’ve just forgotten to unplug your gaming headset. First, the G29 is more affordable than the direct Thrustmaster alternatives, the T300 series wheels. The quality of the wheel itself is great too. There’s a metal core and leather stitched over the parts your hands grip. Trueforce is the name that Logitech have given their new wheel vibration technology. Trueforce is designed to replicate the vibration that you would feel in the chassis of a car if you were driving it in real life. Unscrew the 6 front screws of the cap with the logitech logo and detach the front half of the steering wheel from the base. If you are working on a G29 please read the next step carefully Whether Fanatec or Thrustmaster is the better racing wheel brand will ultimately come down to your personal tastes and budget.Put the spacer in the centre of the hub, fixing it so that it fits tightly and with the ACELITH lettering straight and facing you.In the tutorial video the spacer is different: the one you received is better, don't worry :) Depending on one’s level of play, users will undoubtedly make use of all the wheel’s 900 degree turning radius. However, the best example of the G923 is with Grid (2019). Bridging the gap between sim and arcade like handling, it’s easy for beginners and the hardcore elite to dive in. Fanatec and Thrustmaster charge a lot more for leather wheels. The Logitech G29 gets you higher-end extras at no extra cost. Its pedalboard is much better than anything else at the price too, with a board that has a clutch and very solid metal plates. It’s not plastic rubbish. Although, all in all, this isn’t a huge upgrade in terms of performance or quality. And most racers wouldn’t notice a difference between the two pedals.
