I have Laura Mercier Vanille Gourmand, a much higher quality but similar type and I rarely wear it, so Midnight Shimmer has zero chance of making the rotation. Midnight Shimmer is like a lighter version that can be worn at bedtime and wont be as over powering. Midnight Shimmer is a “sparkling and captivating fragrance that promises to illuminate the evening", with a rich, woody composition as "the perfect finishing touch before a glamorous night out.

It's a very clean vanilla to my nose, and it immediately reminded me of Vanilla Woods from 7 Virtues. After resting a week or so, I sprayed it on my arm, while wearing another fragrance, and it opened up and overtook that one.It has something in common with both Mission and Derek Lam's Something Wild, but it's far less of a boutique fragrance, or acquired taste, than either of those, more of a mass market crowd pleaser that replaces cedar and tobacco with simple white flowers. Only one scary minus: If I have understood correctly, the production has been discontinued, so it won't be easy to find in the future. Although I can faintly smell the cedar in the deepest parts of the dry down, I really wouldn't describe this as woody or smoky. It sounded like it was going to be a fruity sugar bomb, but I tried it after looking up the notes and fell immediately in love after it sat on my skin a short while. Overall, this perfume had a lot of potential to be in my favorite perfumes of all time list, but it's just so weak in comparison to say, Laura Mercier's Vanille Gourmande.

When I was wearing it I kept being reminded of something else until it hit me and I sprayed the Bare Vanilla on one wrist and this one on the other. Bathed in starlight, the fragrance opens with the succulent sparkle of Quince and highlighted with the fresh dew of Freesia and lush Jasmine Petals.However, as other reviewers have mentioned, this doesn't really have any sillage or projection at all. It's not one of my favorites, but I layer it with sweeter perfumes or vanilla ones, so it's okay for me. Simple, timeless silhouettes are crafted with artisanal details including hand crochet and lace embroidery that exude an optimistic spirit. I can smell hints of liquorice in there somewhere along with vanilla, however the woody scent isn’t too present.
