Description

This guide to Greek mythology combines accessible facts with amazing visuals for a truly amazing read. This book would be great for anyone looking for an overview of Greek mythology with very great visuals. I just keep wanting to share illustrations, but I’d better limit myself, so here’s a page about The Odyssey, to give you an idea of the breadth of the stories. Rick Riordan himself recommends the Joshua Khan’s Shadow Magic series, a dark fantasy adventure for younger teens, The Storm Runnerby J C Cervantes, in which Zane learns that Mayan prophecy states he is destined to release Ah-Puch, the god of death, from a 1000-year entrapment, and Dragon Pearlby Yoon Ha Lee, in which Min follows her brother into the Space Cadets, but finds that she must battle monsters straight from Korean mythology.

If so, that would imply a connection to the Vedic god Varuna, also a cattle god who could send diseases to punish miscreants. The Iliad, said to have been composed by Homer, is an epic poem that was probably originally put into writing during the middle of the eighth century BCE. One page is taken up with a deliciously drawn portrait and the other is adorned with both text and illustrations. The book, a compendium of major characters, is grouped into three major section: gods, mortals, and monsters including fifty such figures as Zeus, Hera, the Muses, Hades, Penelope, Achilles, Cyclops, Medusa, and Cerberus.Vous trouverez sur cinq pages une liste (avec une version en PDF) assez complète des dieux, déesses, monstres, daemons et autres esprits de la mythologie grecque. A second creation myth associated with Veles is the formation of the boundary between the underworld and the human world, a result of a treaty forged between Veles and a shepherd/magician. Topping’s style is bold, stylised, and perfectly suited to the powerful yet enigmatic nature of her subjects.

I received a free ARC of this book from the publisher on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Overall, this is an absolutely gorgeous book on legendary characters and creatures from Greek mythology. Le premier de ces âges était l’âge d’or, où tout était essentiellement parfait et semblable à un paradis. I realise you’d be going some to see the details, but you may see the brown Cyclops asleep and the ship and the other challenges they faced. The crowding limits the space available for text, so some of it is written in a thin, tiny font that is *really* difficult to read. The thrilling images and digestible text provide the perfect introduction to the lively world of Greek mythology. The art is so incredible and one-of-a-kind, it gives the presentation of mythological characters new life. Journey back to ancient Greece to a time when Gods and Goddesses ruled and where monsters were terrifying.
