Description

This book, Mastery by Robert Green wants to teach you how to overcome one of the biggest obstacles we face. In this new age, those who follow a rigid, singular path in their youth often find themselves in a career dead end in their forties, or overwhelmed with boredom. Furthermore, it has inspired me to take courage in my own Life's Task, and I expect to turn to it again and again on that lonely but rewarding journey. You possess a kind of inner force that seeks to guide you toward your Life’s Task— what you are meant to accomplish in the time that you have to live. Unfortunately a mess of ideas and misconceptions (did you know that Albert Einstein discovered relativity due to spending a badly estimated 10,000 hours thinking about it over 10 years?

You start by observing who is doing well in the field and trying to learn rules and strategies through your observation of them. This intelligence is cultivated by deeply immersing ourselves in a field of study and staying true to our inclinations, no matter how unconventional our approach might seem to others. The bigger obstacles are fear and conformism, and we all have fear, and we all have some desire to conform. The people we know as masters don't devote themselves to their particular skill just to get better at it. Value learning over money: Einstein working at the patent office to give himself time to work on his thought experiments.Quick read that felt a lot like a blend of Zen and the Art of Archery and the Miracle of Mindfulness but was nonetheless a nice reminder of the principles that those works espouse. The author defining mastery as a journey takes us in a journey within his book explaining the 5 keys of mastery in part 2 the actual essence of the book after giving an interesting part 1 on the concept in general describing how other paths contrary to mastery are followed with their negative impact on the individual and society as a whole. Apprentice yourself in failure: When a machine malfunctions, it shows you where you need to improve it.

Instead of feeling complacent about what you know, you must expand your knowledge to related fields, giving your mind fuel to make new associations between different ideas. Reading this book at this particular time felt like a drink of cold water in the desert for I have been thirsting after a practice that I could master. You are allowing them to project their fantasies onto you, or directing their attention to other theatrical qualities.Robert has lived in London, Paris, and Barcelona; he speaks several languages and has worked as a translator.

Since I read this more for knowledge than for practice, I hope to reread this soon with application in mind and will review my ratings then.Knowing it with clarity, you will find your way to the proper career path and everything else will fall into place. What separates Mastery from the rest of his oeuvre is that Greene’s emphasis on his subject’s importance in the 21st century forces readers to play close attention. For while the earlier book was about how to gain and hold control of other people, this one is about how to find, develop, and fully realize one's own Life's Task. All of us have access to a higher form of intelligence, one that can allow us to see more of the world, to anticipate trends, to respond with speed and accuracy to any circumstance.
