Description

The harshness that first befell the drinker has long since disappeared. Indeed, it is a wonderfully soft whisky and its palatable offerings are even more delicate than its smell. Memories of a warm summer’s evening intensify with each tasting. Honey becomes the support actor, and faint liquorice traces leave themselves upon the tongue. Caramel, a late entrant, closes the show. Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. By using the Service, and by creating an account you represent, warrant and confirm that you are of legal age. The colour is a light-to-medium gold. Very grassy on the nose, with herbs, light butterscotch and orange marmalade. Quite citrusy, actually, with lemon curd and lime pith brightening it up. Mangoes and pears, too - a real fruit bomb. I detect a tiny hit of peat. Maltier (and slightly peatier) with water. Too much orange but it is pleasant enough. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect.Like Dalwhinnie, Glenkinchie starts life as a (deliberately) sulfury new make, but this character falls away in time to reveal delicacy. As a 10 year old, that sulfur could still be hanging around — one reason for the switch to a 12 year age statement. The improvement is noticeable. Here are gently lifted floral notes, hints of dry grass, and crisp pear. The feel is gentle and slow in the center, while vanilla creeps into the finish. Not complex, but very pleasant.” Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. The body is fine, but the taste is again quite middle of the road, just like the nose. Some sweet grains (you can actually taste the barley), pear, some citrus fruit and loads of oak. It also reminds me a bit of crème brûlée, but not made by the best chef. It even becomes a tad bitter towards the end. A Lowlander matured in bourbon casks, new addition to their core range since 2007 (replacing the 10yo). According to Dave Broom, this is an improvement. Like fellow Lowlander Auchentoshan, but with more character – little bit like Dalwhinnie. Nose: Starts crispy, green apple juice and hints of cinnamon and nuts. Gets mellow and very floral over time. Water brings lemon notes and meringue to the mix, and the nutty notes get salty. The nose is a bit of a curiosity, but not out of line for a Lowland malt: lots of cereal notes and fresh cut grass along with a little bit of oak while resting in the glass. Adding a few drops of water brings out more sweetness: lots of honey roasted almonds and citrus zest. On the palate, there’s a little bit of nutty flavor which gives way to baked green apples and a faint reintroduction of citrus zest towards the end. The finish isn’t too long or intrusive, very soft with more lemon, cereal, and oak. This is not a single malt providing a new or challenging experience for anyone familiar with the lighter flavor profiles of the Lowlands. However, it’s nothing to scoff at or refuse when offered a glass.
