Description

This toilet brush from OXO has the look and feel of a traditional toilet brush with the handy addition of angled bristles to reach where others can’t. In our test, all it took was five swipes around the toilet bowl for this toilet brush to completely rid the bowl of messes. We found the handle easy to hold and liked that didn't have to turn our hands at uncomfortable angles to clean every side of the toilet bowl. There’s nothing worse than scrubbing away at stubborn stains and obscured rims on the toilet bowl, especially when you don’t have the best toilet brush for the job. Sometimes, no amount of toilet cleaner or bleach can save you from this fate, especially if you live in an area with particularly hard water that’s prone to limescale. I've got a lovely posh one - it's in an enclosed ceramic pot with a stainless steel lid. The brush bit can be replaced and new ones are cheap and widely available" - recommended by Mumsnet user, PlentyOfParsnips

EQLEF 3PCS Under Rim Toilet Brush, Toilet Edge Brush Curved

We found that it was easy to attach the scrub heads, which are made from biodegradable coconut husks. We just pressed the button to extend the claw and applied slight pressure to attach it to a sponge head. We liked that the bamboo handle was over a foot long, which made it easy to clean the toilet. We liked the Clorox Toilet Wand Disposable Toilet Cleaning Kit because the handle was long and it was easy to add and remove the brush head with just the touch of a button—no need to come anywhere near the dirty brush head. We were also happy to see that the Oxo Good Grips Toilet Brush with Rim Cleaner lived up to its name and offered a good grip as did the tapered handle on the Boomjoy Toilet Brush, though we wished the latter were a bit longer. The Oxo Good Grips Toilet Brush with Rim Cleaner impressed us with its design during testing. The brush’s design made it super easy to clean under the toilet rim. The main part of the brush head is dome-shaped and easy to reach around the toilet, but the selling point is the separate group of blue bristles that angle upward to fit right under the rim.

Durability: We tested durability by pressing the bristles into the toilet bowl as hard as possible to see if they warped. We approximated what might happen when you’re cleaning a particularly dirty toilet or what might happen to your toilet brush with continued use over time. For disposable brushes, we assessed the ease of changing the disposable pad.

Nexus Freestanding Bathroom Curved Toilet Brush and Holder

The integrated cleaning solution on the brush head lathered up nicely in water, and it scrubbed away the clay mask easily. The slim design of the sponges made it easy to reach under the rim to clean, too. The bowl was clean in about five scrubs, and the brush head didn’t leave behind a single scuff or scratch, even with added pressure. The handle offered a comfortable grip and stored easily in the container. The brush head was able to reach all parts of the toilet and it effectively removed the clay mask. It did take a few extra scrubs, but we were pleased with the results. Even when we used some pressure, the bristles looked like they were brand-new after cleaning, so we were impressed with the durability of this budget-friendly tool. Bristle type: Most toilet-brush bristles are made of nylon, and we prefer this stiff plastic material for scrubbing. Silicone brushes are less common and a bit more expensive; they’re flexible and easier to clean, but they don’t scrub as well. The way bristles are set in the brush can also affect how long the brush takes to dry, so watch out for dense, criss-crossing bristles that trap moisture and grime.Empty the holder regularly, and use bleach or disinfectant to clean this as well. It is still worth replacing the toilet brush or just the head every six months, though. Brush head shape: Germs can get trapped and be forgotten under the rim of the toilet. Look for brushes with a rim cleaner or ones that have a shape that can easily be maneuvered to reach under the rim. Round, bristle and silicone brush heads were the easiest to maneuver in our tests. Cleaning with flat silicone brushes took a little more effort than we would like. The OXO Good Grips Compact Toilet Brush and Canister has a few innovative features, including a specially designed canister which allows the toilet brush to be stored easily. The canister door also opens automatically when you lift the brush.

toilet brush 2023: Say goodbye to dirt and grime Best toilet brush 2023: Say goodbye to dirt and grime

The design of this IKEA toilet brush is simple, yet effective. Attached to the long straight white handle is a sturdy brush head made from gray plastic bristles, which were concealed when we inserted the brush in the white plastic holder. You have to love a cleaning product that does the dirty work for you. Just charge up this Bell + Howell cordless brush, attach one of the three brush heads, and touch the button to start it spinning and scrubbing your toilet. A more traditional design than the others on our list, this toilet brush comes in a textured ceramic holder - you can get a matching soap dispenser, toothbrush holder and soap dish, if you’re that way inclined. The brush has a stainless steel handle and a bristly head, and it does the job. The holder is great quality and pretty heavy, so you won’t need to worry about it toppling over. Key specs The bristles on the Boomjoy Toilet Brush head are made of widely spaced synthetic-rubber spikes, making it less brush-like, but more clean-feeling and easier to use than other brushes we tested. It dried especially well after testing, but because the brush spikes are more spread out, it took longer to clean the toilet and to get rid of all the toilet cleaner from the sides of the bowl. Using the brush felt like we were just swirling cleaning product around rather than actually scrubbing. We liked that the Tilswall Electric Spin Scrubber came with several scrub head options, but we couldn’t find a way to change them out without actually touching the brush. Though it cleaned up the clay mask, we found that two hands were needed to grip this long brush when it was held at certain angles. We would have also preferred there to be an included storage container. Simplehuman Toilet Brush with CaddyWith its ventilated holder, this compact toilet brush from Asobeage keeps germ-free and you avoid that horrible puddle that can form in the bottom of traditional toilet brush holders. The brush itself has a silicone head with plentiful flexible bristles, which will leave your loo sparkling. The holder can be wall-mounted or free-standing, so it’s a great choice if you have limited space. Key specs Although less than environmentally friendly, some Mumsnetters dispose of cheaper toilet brushes on a regular basis, as a way of keeping their bathrooms hygienic. If you fall into this camp, or are just after a (excuse the pun) bog standard loo brush, this one from Wilko is a perfect basic. It comes without a holder, so makes a good replacement for a worn-out or slightly gross brush. Key specs
