Description

That said, what really makes this movie great is the talent in it! It may be the best collection of screen legends and icon ever assembled. The point in time when this movie was made allowed this phenomenon to be possible. In 1984, most of these actors were slightly past their peak, but still in the acting game...so this may explain the ability to cast all of them (without a billion dollar budget). Try to replicate this today with an equivalent assortment of actors, and it would not be possible. The film received eight Golden Raspberry Award nominations at the 1984 Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor and Worst Actress.

The movie is known for its fast-paced action sequences, which feature a range of high-speed stunts and comedic gags. The characters drive a range of exotic vehicles, including a Lamborghini Countach, a Ferrari 308 GTS, and a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. So, why did the race end just as a team finally broke the record? As the race became publicized, liability increased. Thus, the Cannonball Run under the name the U.S. Express ended for good, and the record of 32 hours and 7 minutes stood for over 20 years. More Cannonball: Different Names A coast-to-coast motorcycle record was set by Axe Dekruifin a time of 33 hours and 10 minutes. It was done on a BMW S1000RR with an extra fuel tank while drinking a Red Bull/Gatorade mixture in a CamelBak, and using a Flir thermal imaging camera for night driving. Axe averaged 72.6 mph on his cross-country run and produced a documentary ( No Limits – No Regrets) on his adventure.Wilson, John (2005). Ed Bolian, along with Alex Roy, is perhaps the most outspoken participant of the Cannonball Run. If there were to be an honorary expert in this matter, it would likely be Bolian. In April 2020, an anonymous crew traveled from the Red Ball Garage [19] on the east side of Manhattan to the Portofino Hotel [20] in Redondo Beach, California—a total of 2,825.3 miles (4,546.9km)—in 26 hours 38 minutes. [21] [22] The team averaged 106 miles per hour (171km/h). The record was completed in a 2019 Audi A8L with additional fuel tanks in the rear storage. [23] [18] When speaking about the team, Bolian noted, “They didn’t want to be known as the key violators of all of these shelter-in-place regulations. Nobody wanted to be out there putting anyone’s lives in danger.”

Veteran voice actor June Foray provided the dubbed dialogue of several of the women who escort Goldfarb in the race ("Seymour's girls", as the opening credits list them) in an uncredited performance.
