Schengen is a small wine village with great importance. The place was formerly called Remerschen and was renamed in 1985 after the signing of the Schengen Agreement. On the banks of the Moselle, therefore, are the European Museum and the Monument to Europe. In 2010, a part of the Berlin Wall was erected as a monument there. Castle Schengen is also worth a visit. LuxembourgCastle visits: Scattered with fairytale castles, there are endless chances to wander through their historic walls. The enchanting Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Koblenz is unmissable! The Conseil départemental de la Moselle created an "Organ Trail" to display a number of the department's 650 organs, many of which were built in the area and have historic significance. The oldest organ in the department dates is in the cathedral Saint-Étienne de Metz and dates from 1537. In the 19th century, Moselle had 17 operational organ factories, although only five exist in the present day. The open plan kitchen-dining area offers space to socialise, whilst the living area offers a place for the family to relax and unwind together. Get up at least once to watch the sunrise! Remember to wear warm clothes as it can be chilly as the mist rises up from the river and the sun peeks over the hills to wake up all the birds along the banks.

Josef Adolf Schmoll alias Eisenwerth: Die Mosel von der Quelle bis zum Rhein (Deutsche Lande – Deutsche Kunst). 2nd edition, Munich/Berlin, 1972 When the Second World War was declared on 3 September 1939, around 30% of Moselle's territory lay between the Maginot Line and the German frontier. [4] 302,732 people, around 45% of the department's population, were evacuated to departments in central and western France during September 1939. Of those evacuated, around 200,000 returned after the war. [4] Keep your noise to a minimum and don’t shout. This prevents unwanted attention from reporting eyes, if you are not making too much noise and keeping the night time noise to a minimum then you should not have any dramas. Bright lamps at night combined with the indicator volume turned to the max, is a sure way to give your position away. A small head torch is more than adequate for any night sessions. Move to one of the many areas away from population, preferably in the cover of woods. Also using a boat to transport your equipment to unreachable spots will provide peace of mind and keep you out of sight.
