Sometime during the night, it was still dark anyway, I heard a loud rumble and noticed a yellow, rather bright light on my nightstand. It's gorgeous sinking under my duvet with this scent surrounding me and, waking up in the morning and instantly getting a waft of it still on my cover. A thick, oily oriental with lots of benzoin with an undercurrent of sweet fruit syrup and something dirty and dusty that reminds me of slightly unwashed hair, old-style wood wax and open-air "medieval" fairs with low budget but enthusiastic sellers. The comforting and sweet scent that I expected appeared hours later at the dry down - it really does smell like a sweet dessert (not sickly tho!

The first blast of head notes slaps me in the face with a similar vanilla-with-something-sweet accord as in Tocade by Rochas - which is quite overpowering - sprinkled with cinnamon, as well as with a bold, tart and fascinating fruit accord.

Discreetly pointing out to her that the scent was too much, unbearably vanilla-y with undertones of slightly sour apricot baby mush and gave me a headache? Such was the raging excitement, especially at the base as well, that, even for a foodie like me, the onset of vanilla-amber sweetness turned out to be a bit threatening for a moment. There has been some controversy that Casmir should’ve been crowned as the first gourmand instead of Angel, yet I feel Casmir is more foody than a confectionery. it's strange that there's not ylangylang in it's pyramid as I can clearly smell ylangylang's luxurious,golden,buttery scent.

But it certainly lasts and lingers and isn’t a ‘bad’ scent, I was looking to hard for something I wasn’t going to find initially, and trying to pick out notes, this has so many and is blended well, the ones I was looking for were not what I found, I am starting to enjoy scents in a different way now I’m learning more about them 🙂. Since my bloat has gone I've tried again, it's friendlier on my skin and the stale wood note of the sandalwood isn't as prominent as before. I can see the comparison to Coty Vanilla Musk a bit - imagine a summer cologne edition of Casmir - but I could never stand Vanilla Fields due to the strong jasmine. Dimly, I see a flashing gold something lightly tumbling, like a leaf in the wind, descending upon it.
