The programme is delivered by accredited therapists, counsellors, social workers, nurses, teachers or physicians. The Attentive Parenting ® program is a 6-9 session group-based “universal” parenting program. It can be offered to ALL parents to promote their children’s emotional regulation, social competence, problem solving, reading and school readiness.

The evidence was high strength and based on studies in England, Wales, Netherlands, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and Portugal. Evaluation and effectiveness

Children involved in these interventions were between two and 10 years old. Older and younger children were found to be equally likely to benefit from involvement in the Incredible Years programme. Cost-effectiveness analyses suggests that the Incredible Years intervention can provide savings to the public sector in the longer term.

The high strength of evidence rating for this meta-analysis is based on having a large overall sample size and inclusion of only Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs). The Basic Parent Training Program is 14 weeks for prevention populations, and 18 - 20 weeks for treatment. The Child Training Program is 18-22 weeks. For treatment version, the Advance Parent Program is recommended as a supplemental program. Basic plus Advance takes 26-30 weeks. The Child Prevention Program is 20 to 30 weeks and may be spaced over two years. The Teachers Program is 5 to 6 full-day workshops spaced over 6 to 8 months. Delivery Settings One two-hour session per week (parent and child component); classroom program offered 2-3 times weekly for 60 lessons; teacher sessions can be completed in 5-6 full-day workshops or 18-21 two-hour sessions. The program representative did not provide information about a Logic Model for The Incredible Years (IY).Families who displayed greater levels of distress and higher levels of problems, particularly higher child disruptive behaviour or parental depression found greater positive effect, with more improvement from this intervention.

Incredible Years is a group-based social learning model program for parents, teachers and children that reduces challenging behaviors in children and increases social and emotional learning and self-control skills. Develops parenting skills and increases parents' involvement in children's school experience. This training will prepare group leaders to lead three different basic parenting programs: (1) Toddler Parenting Program (ages 1-3 years) which is 13 weekly sessions; (2) Preschool Parenting Program (ages 3-6 years) which is 18-20 sessions; and (3) School-Age Parenting Program (ages 6-8 years) which is 16 sessions (four additional sessions for the Supporting your Child’s Education component). Accredited Incredible Years trainers and mentors are available to provide as-needed consultation to administrators, group leaders, and therapists about a variety of Incredible Years topics.

The IYT programme is a training programme for teachers grounded in cognitive social learning and relationship theories about the development of antisocial behaviours in children. The IYT programme equips teachers with the skills they need to reduce the occurrence of these antisocial behaviours, leading to better outcomes for the child, the class, and ultimately for society as a whole.
