The aging process plays another important role here; every drop ages four years before being bottled which allows flavors imparted by oak barrels (like vanilla)to mingle harmoniously resulting in smoothness and richness rarely found elsewhere. Who owns Basil Hayden Bourbon now? On the nose, Basil Hayden Toast combines classic Beam bourbon character with some clear influence from the toasted barrel finishing period. I’m getting plenty of the nuttiness that is a Beam signature, in the form of both roasted peanuts and sweeter pralines, along with caramel and the nutty roast of cacao nibs. There’s some molasses-like richness, but also somewhat more oak presence that I was expecting on the nose, especially given that this is another non-age-statement bourbon. It’s clear that the toasted barrel has interacted with this in a substantial way. The aroma is warm, inviting, and full of cinnamon spice vibes; The taste profile has flavors of rye spiciness mixed with hints of sweetness like honey or caramel that are well-balanced giving a smooth finish. Relieves Stress: A small amount of bourbon could help ease stress levels while endorphins are released into your bloodstream during digestion process. In 1992 Jim Beam acquired the rights to produce and distribute Basil Haydens Bourbon Whiskey allowing them to expand their portfolio while staying true to their dedication towards small-batch production methods.

Basil Hayden Bourbon in the US Michelin Guide teams up with Basil Hayden Bourbon in the US

Brown rice bourbon has been done before — namely by Beam — and it wasn’t bad. Toast is clearly younger than that experimental release, though, so let’s see how things go.Another factor that sets apart this brand from others is how it ages their whiskies – they age them twice! To start with they age them four years in newly charred oak barrels then blend those whiskeys with older bourbons aged up to thirteen years! Is there any special way I should drink or serve Basil Haydens' bourbon? With lower alcohol %, the mix of flavors can be enjoyed by straight sipping, as I prefer. Even enjoying the smell before the sip is not preceded by a harsh, pepper nose hit as in higher proofs.

Basil Hayden Bourbon Redesign of the Month: Basil Hayden Bourbon

Beam Suntory produces a range of different spirits, including Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, Knob Creek and Laphroaig to name just a few. History of Basil Hayden's Bourbon Toasting vs. charring is a relatively simple distinction, but the applications of toasted vs. charred barrels can be more complicated, and I’ve seen no shortage of entry-level pieces written on this that lump all instances of “toasted” oak into the same boat. Suffice to say, this is leading to some misunderstandings among whiskey drinkers. So let’s get a few big things out of the way, right off the bat. The current iteration of Basil Hayden Bourbon under Beam Suntory ownership has been available commercially since 1992 when they decided to revive this historic label after years of being out-of-production due to prohibition laws enforced during that period. What makes up the flavor profile of Basil Hayden Bourbon? There was also a move away from the protruding paper label, which had extended out from the bottle and included a long description of the brand’s history. Instead, there is a cleaner, streamlined label (white, instead of beige) affixed to the bottle which features simple claims instead of the text-heavy storytelling of its predecessor. The bourbon space has seen an unprecedented boom in recent years. As this trend has continued, the number of distilleries has grown along with it, increasing the level of competition and pushing more established brands to ensure they’re positioned to succeed. Crafted in 1992 by Booker Noe as part of the Small Batch collection, Basil Hayden introduced a more subtle side of bourbon compared to its counterparts. One classic recipe involves mixing two parts basil hayden bourbon with one part sweet vermouth and two dashes Angostura bitters before stirring gently over ice until chilled then served strained into your desired glassware accompanied by an orange twist garnish Basil Hayden is best known for its high-rye content, which gives it a unique flavor profile. High-rye bourbons have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their spicy and complex taste. This sets them apart from other bourbons that are dominated by corn mash.
