The Bissell StainPro 6 has what I would call a solid design. It’s modern, it’s chunky, and it fits in nicely with pretty much any aesthetic. Ensure the red float can freely move and possibly be replaced in case there is a difficulty in the movement. Replace the lid of the tank to its bottom. The lid is safely attached when the tank can be lifted entirely by its handle.

The red wine stain was something of a formality for the StainPro 10. Within a couple of passes the stain was significantly reduced, thanks in no small part to Bissell’s excellent cleaning solution. A couple more passes and there was the faintest pinky tinge remaining. The HeatWave technology I mentioned before helps with this because it ensures the water is always nice and warm for optimal cleaning results. It is advisable to clean the pet and protein stained surfaces with enzyme-based cleaners, while surfaces with food spills are better cleaned using oxygen bleach-based cleaners. The flat and bristled attachments are suitable for fragile, less soiled upholstery and durable, more dirty surfaces, respectively. This will ensure the water remains at constant cleaning temperature for the best results, and also to help kill germs and bacteria.

Billed as a carpet and upholstery ‘deep cleaner’, Bissell’s StainPro 10 is a serious piece of kit. The form is a full-size carpet shampooer with an 800W motor and on-board stain tool. The main floorhead boasts twin brush bars with 10 rows of bristles and heated cleaning. It has one of the largest clean water tanks we’ve seen at just shy of 5 litres. As with most Bissell carpet cleaners, the StainPro 6 comes with a two-in-one tank as opposed to separate ones. This means the clean and dirty water are kept separately, but they are contained within one giant tank at the base of the carpet cleaner.

The two tanks in the machine should be pulled out, separated, and set aside. The nozzle is then removed by undoing the two screws holding it in place. Occasionally, the suction ability of the hose might fail. In this case, the following troubleshooting steps are applicable. The StainPro 6 includes a 3” Tough Stain Tool, and a Crevice Tool, for use with the attachment hose.Stretching the cleaning out to a full minute, the stain was all but gone. Had we carried on for another pass or two, we suspect it would have been removed completely. The technology employed in this machine enables it to integrate sophisticated formula, water, and brush coils in the cleaning process. The tank itself isn’t the most obvious to fill – none of its ports are labelled – so you’ll need to resort to the manual. That recommends two of the supplied 2.5fl oz (74ml) measuring cups of cleaning solution per tank. Since the bladder is flexible, there’s no obvious fill-up line; we just topped it up with warm water and left enough room for the solution. Bissell StainPro 10 – Accessories
