Most of the vineyards are planted on old alluvial gravels, hence the name Greyrock and the handcarved greywacke stone* that features on our label. Grown on a variety of soil types - gravels which provide tropical flavours, clay loams produce citrus notes, and deep silty soils lift the aromatic quality.

This is a ripe, aromatic Sauvignon that opens with notes of confected pineapple, peach, Key lime pie and passionfruit, with a hint of grass in the background.Full of ripe gooseberry and passionfruit, intense tropical fruit and lime flavours, with sweet grassy notes; the rich minerality of the vineyard soils come through the palate to give a rich lingering finish.

On the riper end of the spectrum, heady aromas of peach, pineapple, ripe grapefruit and a touch of honey and herb are at the fore. The bitterness of melon rind comes in on the finish, but there's enough acidity to keep the palate refreshing, interesting, and quite food friendly.
