Description

Self raising flour, which is very commonly used in the UK where I am based, already contains a raising agent and a little salt too. Therefore if you want to swap it for plain or all purpose flour, you will need to add some baking powder and also a little salt if you like. Some people like to add salt to cake recipes and some don't, so I'll leave that up to you as it won't affect the bake. The general advice is to add 2 teaspoons baking powder (a measuring teaspoon, not the kind you stir your coffee with) per every 200g plain or all purpose flour. So for this recipe you'd need to add 2 teaspoons baking powder. Please note, I have not tested this recipe using plain or all purpose flour. Is the creaming method or the all in one method best? This moist and fruity cake is a great way to get kids to eat fruit, you may have trouble stopping them! But what I have learned from my own bread recipes is that if you follow the instructions carefully and are patient with each part of the process, you’ll be rewarded with a delicious homemade loaf!

Unfortunately what the thermostat says may not be accurate! Make our multifunctional ginger and honey loaf cake. I’d like to make this cake for my husband’s birthday. Can I do it using one round cake tin, if I do how long and at what temperature should I bake it.? Pour the mixture into the loaf tin and bake for an hour, or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean Next add the self raising flour and gently whisk it in. Then gently fold in the lemon zest. Pour all of the batter into the lined tin.

This loaf cake is simple and seasonal, using fresh autumnal cobnuts and apples, topped with dreamy dulce de leche Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Grease a 900g/2lb loaf tin with a little butter and line with baking paper.
