The inner pot needs to be at room temperature before you start cooking. If you've kept a slow cooker dish in the fridge, you must wait for it to warm up before turning it on.

Note that, if your slow cooker doesn’t have programmable time settings, you won’t have full control of the cooking process. This means that there is a lot of room for errors that can lead to overcooking, burning or undercooking. h2>
