Just warm them through in a toaster or under the grill straight from the fridge or freezer before serving. Waffle makers that make audible beeps when they're ready to go earned extra points, while slow to heat and poorly labelled ones were penalised. Make it dessert: ice cream! Turn this pumpkin waffle into dessert by topping it with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Wow!

The cornflour also contributes to the light, crispy texture; but you can swap it for more plain flour if you don’t have any. From there, I poured three tablespoons of batter into the waffle maker, which, per Dash's suggestion, is the recipe for a "perfect pumpkin." The brand wasn't wrong. Just about two minutes later, the light on the device flashed green, and I opened up the waffle maker to find a perfectly crisp waffle. I repeated the process three times before taking some photos and then finally digging into the sweet treat. Don’t want to do all the work every time? Make a double batch of these pumpkin waffles and save more for later! Here’s what to do: Flour. For these waffles, you need regular all purpose flour. I have not experimented with using different flour varieties for this recipe. The good news is that it is really easy to make your own using a few common spices – cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and allspice.

Mix in the remaining wet ingredients, then the dry ingredients.Whisk or beat on low speed until everything is combined, but do not over-mix! Some small lumps are fine—don’t worry about that. Make Ahead & Freezing Instructions: Waffles are best enjoyed freshly made. I recommend freezing any leftover cooled waffles. Waffles can be frozen for up to 3 months, then warmed in the toaster. If you loved our classic Waffle Recipe and the classic flavors of Pumpkin Pie then break out the pumpkin puree because you have to try this Pumpkin Waffles recipe. This will surely become one of your favorite autumn breakfasts. Homemade Pumpkin Waffles Lightly oil a griddle pan, making sure to grease all the grooves, and place over a high heat. When hot, add 1–2 ladles of the mixture into the pan and immediately turn the heat to low. Push the mixture to the edges using a spatula. Cook for 3–4 minutes, or until the top has started to set, then flip the waffle over using a spatula on each side and cook for a further 3–4 minutes. Slide onto a plate and keep warm while you make more waffles to finish the mixture. The mixture should make 2–3 more, depending on the size of your griddle pan. With just a few tablespoons of sugar, these waffles are not super sweet, but they have so much flavor from the spices- you’re going to love them! They are not hugely sweet, which means that they could also work well as part of a savoury breakfast/brunch, though you might want to add a little less pumpkin spice in that case. Baking Powder + Baking Soda: Yes, we use both, just like we do in buttermilk waffles and whole wheat waffles. These leaveners keep the waffles light. Chopped pecans or walnuts: These nuts both go well with pumpkin! Make toasted pecans or toasted walnuts to bring out their flavor even more.

There are so many ways to eat pumpkin as a fall breakfast idea! After you make these pumpkin waffles, you absolutely must try: Pumpkin pie spice blend isn’t readily available outside of the US. In the UK the closest thing we have is mixed spice (though M&S have started selling pumpkin spice!), but it is a different blend of spices to pumpkin spice so it’s not the best thing to use if you want a true pumpkin spice flavour. These pumpkin waffles have more flavor than any waffle recipe I’ve ever made – plenty of pumpkin flavor and just the right amount of cinnamon and pumpkin spice. Mix dry ingredients– In a separate large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk dry ingredients into wet ingredients, mixing just until moistened. Add in melted butter, whisking just until incorporated. The batter will be lumpy (be sure not to over-mix). Brown sugar: While we typically sweeten waffle batter with maple syrup, the consistency is better with sugar here. Trust us!

Never Go "Hangry" Again!

Waffle Maker: You can use this recipe in either a Belgian or traditional waffle maker or iron. The suggested cooking time is just a suggestion. Follow the cooking instructions for your specific waffle maker. For the best results make sure that you follow the recipe closely. As always, I highly recommend using the gram measurements (with a digital scale), rather than the cup conversions. Cup measurements are simply not accurate enough for baking and I cannot guarantee the best results if you use them. Greek yogurt with maple syrup: Mix ½ cup Greek yogurt with 1 tablespoon maple syrup and ½ teaspoon vanilla and use it for dolloping. Vegan pumpkin waffles - these super fluffy vegan waffles are crispy on the outside and light and soft on the inside, you would never be able to tell that they are eggless and dairy-free! They are lightly spiced and flavoured with pumpkin, perfect for an autumnal breakfast or brunch!
