Any of your Necron units that fire at an enemy unit within range of said picked objective Ignore Cover, which is cool. First up, as above, the Phasal Subjugator provides an Aura of +1 to hit for non-Character units, obviously great if you’re planning to bring a gunline of tanks alongside your Infantry blocks. It also makes the Orb on the Catacomb Command Barge extra useful, as it gives you lots of flexibility to protect surrounding units. Given the buffs and boosts elsewhere in the army, this should work out OK for the Necrons – the faction becomes more interactive, and less about presenting your opponent with bricks and hoping they can’t one-shot them. We’ve already seen what their gearhead rivals in the Adeptus Mechanicus can look forward to, and now the living metal legions are winding up to show these crude human machinists how it’s done.

And finally we have one of the leading legends of the Necrons (behind The Silent King, of course…), Imotekh the Stormlord.Where you might consider this is on Enmitic Lokhust Heavies, as with a Lord it lets them rack up absurd numbers of hits, but even there losing the ability to try and chip vehicles hurts.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES and the names of the characters, items, events and places therein are trademarks of The Saul Zaentz Company d/b/a Middle-earth Enterprises under license to New Line Productions, Inc. The detachments mostly look awesome, including the Cryptek court that looks a hell of a lot better than the WD version last edition, but some of those unit nerfs… they’re HEFTY. Sanguinius faced Fulgrim and won, Dorn charged Horus Ascended…and soon regretted it whilst Sigismund took not one, but two heads (Eidolon and Abaddon). The book has 64 pages and the cover is printed in colour while the majority of the book remains in black and white, although there are several pages of colour images of miniatures.I didn’t like the GW statement that these rules would stay locked, and seeing them go back and adjusting units is a good thing. Once you’ve allocated all of your Awakening points, you can trigger powerful, flexible Master System abilities. I do think it's a shame that crypteks cannot join lychguard, imotekh and orikan didn't get any more boosts, and the annihilation legion looks rather horrid.

The reason for this, as we should all expect really, is that I cannot really find any changes from the Index rules. Overall, the index detachment and the canoptek detachment both look pretty solid, the translocation one as well but it's not for me. Don’t forget that Skorpekh will usually be swinging with Devastating Wounds on key combats, so this isn’t going to help them much. Not gunna lie I wiped a bit of sweat from my brow when I saw Lokhust Lords and Destroyers still in the mix. I say X because the number of units you can do this to depends on the size of the game you are playing. It always feels like a weird missing piece in this as we see them on the tabletop but it is hard for a new player to go get one without dropping some serious cash for a rather hard-to-transport model. The other two enhancements aren’t actually locked to Destroyer Cult units, so you could in theory make some of them do a bit of work elsewhere. Instead of providing full wound re-rolls as before, this now provides hit re-rolls of 1 within Half Range, or full hit re-rolls in Half Range if a Character is leading the unit.
