Description

Cut out and design your own sunnies, play dot-to-dot and get colouring with the help of all your favourite Bluey characters! They recognise success in Australian writing, publishing and bookselling, with an orientation towards business and sales.

Having experienced what it’s like to be on your own for the first time, Bluey reunites with Mum and they listen to the shell, before walking back down the beach together. Yet perhaps, they are picking up on the complex mystery behind a love for the simple things - like walking by yourself along the shore. She runs to show Mum and has a series of encounters that will both excite and test her in unexpected ways. Bluey is trying to follow Mom down the beach but different sea creatures keep getting in Bluey’s way! As Mr Pelican flies off giving us a beautiful vista of a typical quiet, Aussie beach, Bluey catches sight of Mum, and they run to meet up. The Abias are hosted by the Australian Publishers Association and judged by an academy of more than 250 publishing industry figures. This is something I wrestle with, finding the right balance between oversight versus independence of my five-year-olds.

It's a wonderful reminder to adults of the magic of childhood, and a great way to introduce kids to the joys of reading. Behrouz Boochani has received another award for his book written from an Australian-run detention centre on Papua New Guinea’s Manus Island, No Friend But the Mountains – this time for the audiobook narrated by the Farsi translator Omid Tofighian and other high-profile Australians, including Benjamin Law, Isobelle Carmody, Janet Galbraith, Mathilda Imlah, Geoffrey Robertson, Richard Flanagan, Sarah Dale, Thomas Keneally and Yumi Stynes. The jokes and fun work on all levels, although I find the parent's willingness to join in all the time exhausting. Her youngest asked me to read this book which is set on the beach when Bluey and her family go there. Boochani, who remains in New Zealand after travelling there for a literary festival in November, now adds the Abias’ audiobook of the year award to a long list of Australian literary accolades, including the Victorian premier’s literary prize, the NSW premier’s literary prize, the National Biography award, and last year’s Abia general nonfiction award, among others. This book has a charming colloquial Australian voice and is full of humour and of course great lessons for the young people.Bluey then finds a shell she likes and decides to catch up with mum but there are a few obstacles along the way.

Or maybe they start to unravel Bluey’s ability to overcome challenges and the importance of remembering where you’ve been, who you are, and that feeling you had once you’ve made it through a set back. My daughter loved following along with Bluey and her family as they build sandcastles, play in the waves, and enjoy a picnic lunch. Along the way she encounters a surfer, some pesky seagulls, a cast of crabs, a washed-up jellyfish and a rather large and nervous pelican. From the thrill of discovering a hermit crab to the disappointment of a melted ice cream cone, the book perfectly captures the joys and sorrows of being a kid.The Bluey books line has been a sales machine for PRH, with books from the series being the second-, third- and fourth-biggest selling children’s books in Australia in 2019. The story is typical Bluey stuff - on one level it's a gentle narrative about discovering things on the beach, but the deeper level is about learning to enjoy your own company.
