Description

Jake Stratton-Kent has been called the most notorious necromancer in England, and described himself as a ‘very late Late Pagan.’ He died on 17th January 2023, having made a significant contribution to the current magical revival. He championed a spirit centred approach and the importance of the grimoires for the western magical tradition. He will always be associated with the Grimorium Verum, the book which was central to his practice for over forty years. In his introduction and notes to the grimoire, Stratton-Kent elucidates the importance of this concise and comprehensive text to magicians and students of magic alike: vel probatissime Salomonis Claviculæ Rabini Hebraïci, in quibus tum naturalia tum super naturalia secreta, licet abditissima, in promptu apparent, modo operator per nessaria et contenta faciat scia tamen oportet Demonum potentia dum taxat per agantur; Traduit de l’Hébreu par PLAINGIÈRE, Jésuite Dominicain, avec un Recueil de Secrets curieux. That is, mystic characters for engraving on magical instruments, vessels and vestments. The statement is utterly untrue, for the characters given by the Grimoire are few in number and exceedingly imperfect as well. Il est enseigné les secrets tant naturels que surnaturels, qui s'opèrent par la puissance des Démons; vous y trouverez aussi la manière de s'en servir, et le tout sans tromperie.

The "introductory chapter" [6] was written by Antonio Venitiana del Rabina, who said he had gathered his information from original writings of King Solomon. [7] Much of the material of this grimoire derives from the Key of Solomon and the Lesser Key of Solomon, pseudepigraphical grimoires attributed to King Solomon. [8] The first book contains instructions for summoning Lucifer or Lucifuge Rofocale, for the purpose of forming a deal with the Devil.A rare and surprising secret of magic. The manner of making the mirror of Solomon, appropriate for all divinations. In the second part are expressed the secrets, both Natural and Supernatural which operate by the power of the Daemons. You will find the manner to make use of them, and all without deceit.

In particular the superior spirits of Lucifer, Beelzebub, Astaroth, including the many inferior spirits below them and their invoking sigils. The key to modern ceremonial magic. Although the author of this grimoire was traditionally the biblical King Solomon, it was probably written in the 13th Century A.D. It was translated by S. Liddell MacGregor Mathers in 1888; Mathers subsequently had a lot of influence in the Golden Dawn movement, one of the sources of modern ritual magic; it is said that he co-wrote its rituals with W.B. Yeats. Mathers also translated the Kabbalah. At the end there are some short extracts from the Grimorium Verumwith the Seals of evil spirits, which, as they do not belong to the Key of Solomonproper, I have not given. For the evident classification of the Keyis in two books and no more. The second edition appears thirteen years after the True Grimoire was first published, in which time it has become a critical and foundational work of the current magical revival. As Dr Alexander Cummins observes in his Foreword, the True Grimoire ‘spearheaded a particular renaissance in grimoire studies towards more informed historical analysis and more engaged mythopoetic ritual praxis, all the while centring the realities of hands-on cunning.’ Spence, Lewis (2006). A handbook of Black Magic

One of the rarest and most reputable treatments of ceremonial magic. Discusses topics such as alchemy, astrology, and the Kabbalah. The date specified in the title of the Grimorium Verum is undeniably fraudulent; the work belongs to the middle of the eighteenth century, and Memphis is Rome. The Grand Grimoire is not of higher antiquity. That of Honorius is said to have appeared originally in 1629, but it has been sometimes referred erroneously to the same period of the previous century. This arcane book of incantations contains speels to summon and bind powerful demons. In his early days as a magic-user, John Constantine's misuse of the tome led to dire consequences. In the third part is the Key to the Work, with the manner of using it. But, before starting this, it will be necessary to be instructed in the following: There are three powers, which are Lucifer, Beelzebuth and Astaroth. You must engrave their Characters in the correct manner and at the appropriate hours. Believe me, all this is of consequence, nothing is to be forgotten.

Here begins the Sanctum *Regnum, called the King of Spirits, or the Clavicles of Solomon, a very learned Necromancer and Hebrew Rabbi. The companion Grimoire to the Greater Key of Solomon, (for which, see above). It focuses on the characteristics of the various demons, and the summoning rituals. Butler, E. M. (Eliza Marian), 1885-1959. (1998). Ritual magic. University Park, Pa.: Pennsylvania State University Press. p.81. ISBN 0271018461. OCLC 40875261. {{ cite book}}: CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list ( link) CS1 maint: numeric names: authors list ( link)Here beginneth the Sanctum Regnum, called the Royalty of Spirits, or the little Keys of Solomon, a most learned Hebrew nigromancer and Rabbin, containing various combinations of characters, whereby the Powers, Spirits or, more correctly, Devils are invoked, so that they are forced to appear whensoever you may determine, each one according to his faculty, and are compelled to bring whatsoever you may require of them, causing you no kind of annoyance, provided only that they are contented on their part, for these sorts of creatures give nothing for nothing." As indicated by the authorship which is attributed to it, the Grimorium Verum is based to some extent upon the Key of Solomon, the main points of resemblance being in the description of the magical instruments and in some of the forms of prayer. It distinguishes plainly the powers which it is proposed And if you wish more, you draw the character on an emerald or ruby, for they have greater sympathy with the spirits, especially those of the Sun, who are the wisest, and are friendlier and are better than the others." This is only a conjectural translation. It is impossible to render such a passage as modo operator per necessaria et contenta facit scia tamen oportit Dæmonum potentia dum taxat per agantur.
